Parking is not outsourced. Valet is; but parking and security is not.

They're smart enough to figure out why you drove in, and they can certainly call whoever they need to.

We have seen cars towed. We have seen people return to the parking lot wondering where there car is. We've seen people at the front desk because they think their car was stolen, only to be told otherwise.

The whole point of a forum is that it brings together a multitude of experiences. Your's is one experience. One of many. When making a decision, do you rely on the one outlier, or the more common experience?

No but it is called being courteous. I don't park in my neighbors driveway. Or at the bottom of their driveway, making it hard for them to use their driveway. Just because you can get away with doing something doesn't mean you should be doing it.

But they own the spot right? It's not the same. You actually are not renting the lot or even a room at that resort. You can get a room, but it is subject to change. Read your contract. Unless you get assigned parking, you are not guaranteed a spot as close to the resort as possible.

I just follow instructions. If you want to enforce parking perhaps you can apply for a job? Until then, I would leave the actual policy and enforcement to actual employees.

I'm not...you just don't like my answer. A guard tells everyone it's ok to park. Each time you are just following instructions.

But don't you qualify as "people on an unofficial Disney site"? Do you not believe the folks who have said they've seen cars towed (with no civilians around)? They're posting their experiences no different than you posting yours. BOTH sides are correct... you may be allowed to park (or even told to) in a resort lot and nothing happens, or you may be towed. Each person needs to make their own decision.

However, lets say you go to CR at 8am in the morning. The guard says "sure, go ahead and park". You return at 9 at night and your car is gone. You finally find out it's been towed. Obviously you're going to say "the guard told me to". That would be the guard who went off shift who knows how many hours ago. Do you expect Disney to call him at home and ask him if he told you that? On the other hand, you may return at 9 at night, get into your car and leave. Do you not understand some folks don't want to take the chance the former is what happens? And they're just advising folks there is a CHANCE their car may get towed.

There's also people who believe you should only use parking if it's your resort or for the designated time allowed. Do you really want to make the argument that you're ENTITLED to use CR (or Poly, or GF) parking in order to go to a park (possibly leaving a resort guest without a spot for their car)?

If, and this is a huge if, you were given permission and they then towed your car I would expect compensation from the resort. It's that easy. And knowing Disney they would most likely make it right and then some. If you were given permission for anything at WDW, (using the FP line, parade viewing, upgraded room, even a free ice cream) and they then went back on their instructions I would expect them to make it right.

Lastly, if you stay on Disney property you are a guest of the WDW Resort. No where in your contract does it state that you are guaranteed a parking spot at your home resort.

No. I'm not saying park there for the sake of parking. I'm saying that if you are spending $ in the resort via food, merchandise or a conference chances are they will not care if you eat and head to the park. Again it's at the discretion of the guard.

And because we already established that no one is actually guaranteed a parking space who's to say that the revenue I generate from a conference would be more than a regular guest and I actually deserve the spot more. In fact, I would be perfectly fine if the resort reserved spaces based on the revenue of the guest.

I have called Disney, I have emailed them. I have spoken to guards, I have spoken to resort CMs. Each time I ask if I can drive to a resort, that I'm not staying at, and leave my car there while I go to a park. I've been told, by Disney on the phone and via email, that no, I can drive, park, enjoy the amenities at the resort, but my car must leave the resort when I leave the resort.
I've had different statements from guards....some have said sure, you can leave your car as long as you want. Others have said no, move your car before heading to a park.
CMs inside the resort? They say check with security!

Am I guaranteed a specific parking spot? Of course not. But, I don't think that when I pull into my parking lot at BW, at 8:30 at night, I should have to park further away than usual. Then, I look out and see a ton of empty spots at 10. Why you ask? All those folks who felt it was ok to arrive during the day, head to a park, watch IllumiNations at Epcot, walk back to BW and drive away.

I still think they need to make resort lots, that are close to parks (CR, Polynesian, BW, BC, YC) gated. There can be short term parking....4 hrs or less....available for non-guests. You don't see this issue at the S/D resorts. Why? They charge everyone for parking!

Actually, since I 'own' property at both BLT and BWV, I think I'm deserving of a parking spot.
By this way of thinking, Brazilian tour groups should get an entire lot.....they spend an incredible amount of money at WDW.
In all reality? No one is more deserving of a parking spot than the person staying at that resort.

But what the person attending a conference? Or those spending $ at a restaurant? Do they not deserve a spot as well?

I bet if all the theme park guests stopped parking there, they would have room for people staying at those resort, attending a conference or eating in one of the restaurants.

I do. I also usually have the card of the person I'm visiting with so the guard can give them a heads up. It has never been an issue.

Probably. The whole argument from others is that they are spending money to stay at the resort so they deserve a parking space. I am also spending money at the resort and in most cases more than the average guest so shouldn't I have a parking space as well?
