So.....after explaining all this to the group I am going with (extended family of 12 people), the Disney bubble still won out!
haha
I was, however, able to convince them all we should rent points for a better experience. In the end, we were able to get a Grand Villa at BLT for $60 (in total, not per night or per room) more than 3 Garden Wing Standard View rooms at Contemporary. It just goes to show how powerful the hold Disney has over people and how much of a premium is put on convenience.
For this trip, I'm OK with the decision. It's a big one for mom's (grandma's) 70th (now 72nd after the rescheduling). Staying onsite will make things easier for us to be together as a group and easier for the older ones in the group, if they don't want to be in the parks all day.
If it was just my family of 4...we'd be offsite in a 2 bedroom suite.
Now, fingers crossed, hopefully Disney adds back some on-site benefits before November!
