For our next trip we're looking at staying at least part of our trip at a DVC resort, probably at Saratoga Springs. Also it's likely we'd be picking a Studio, because it's only the two of us going and we'd probably be rattling around in anything bigger, plus it would be a good guide as if we ever did decide to buy in to DVC, this would be what we bought enough points for.

When we looked at the room specs for a Studio, it said it was a Queen size bed, which according to a US bedding website should be 60 inches wide. That's great, because our bed at home is a (UK) King size, which also measures about 60 inches. However, when looking online at various photos and videos people have taken at SSR (oh, the joys of surfing YouTube on a Sunday night!), the beds we see certainly do not look as wide as the one we have - it looks more like a UK Double, which if true, could lead to some rather uncomfortable nights considering what we're used to.

So could someone who has stayed at a DVC resort (ideally SSR, but I'll take any info you can provide) let us know their personal opinion of the sizes of beds, rather than us just relying on what a website says it SHOULD be? Heck, if someone is going out there fairly soon, I'll even resort to posting you a tape measure to pack, to put my mind at rest!

US bed sizes are a bit larger than the UK ones. Your queen is going to be the same size as a UK King, but I think it may be slightly longer, which would be why it appears not as wide. Unfortunately I got rid of my queen fitted sheets as they were too long for the UK beds which is why I seem to think they could be a bit longer. If I still had them I could have checked for you.

Have you thought of running a search on US furniture suppliers and checking the dimensions of a queen? That would answer your question. ;)

That's the thing - there are plenty of websites out there that say that the UK King is the same size as a US Queen (and I don't doubt this is the case), but it's just that the videos of the beds on YouTube certainly don't look like they are the same size. Either the camera is making the beds look smaller than they really are, or they are not actually Queen size after all. The question is, which is true...?

we stayed at old key west last year in a 1 bed villa - which has a king size bed - this was definitely the same size as our Superking bed here in the Uk- agreed was a bit longer.

We looked round the studio - which has 2 queen size beds and they definitely looked like king size to me.

hope you have a great time.

I'm not in the UK so i'm of no use with comparisons but we have stayed in SSR in a studio and it was definitely a US Queen Size... hope this helps!

If it is definitely a queen then it would be a UK king with a little more length.

I don't know about SSR, but we have stayed in a studio at OKW and the beds were US queen size, which I would say are pretty much the same as UK king! :goodvibes

We stayed at a value last year and the beds were the same as uk doubles.

OKW and SSR studios have queen size which is our king size.

I think the 1 beds at okw have a US king size in the master which is our super king.

I stayed in a SSRS studio in March, and the bed is definately a king size, not a double.
I have a superking at home, and I sleep in a double when I vist relatives, and this bed was certainly bigger than the double, but smaller than my own bed.

Hope this helps.:goodvibes

king or queen you will have no problems with sleeping in them. have found disney beds really comfortable
