One thing about being an American is that we all have several families that we deeply love, among them being our national family and the country where our other ancestors were born. We have several loves. Some of us love the Irish parts of ourselves and have a deep pride in that culture, some have roots in poland, some germany, I could go on and on, we all have extended family and ties beyond our homeland here in America. We also have the families that we made and were born into genetically. When something tragic happens to one of those families we are devastated, but if something horrific were to happen to all of our families all at once over an agonizing period of time there is a compound effect. I have never once brought my race up here on the dis,but I am an African American woman who loves my country, my fellow Americans, my family, my people of African descent, all with a bottomless love. I am with out words, there are no earthly words to describe what I have felt as I watched my national family dying, my african family dying, my human family dying in such a terrifying way. Any one of those babies could have been mine, not just because so many of there precious faces were black, but because this was happening in my homeland of America. How much more can we take as a nation? I am so affraid of what is happening right now in my country, the safest and greatest country in the world had one of it's grandest cities innihilated by nature the result being that it looked like one of those hells on earth across the ocean.
I need to tell you, my family, my beloved American family that I love you. I love you with my every breath. We cannot afford to have our grief and shock divide us. We are one people with roots that cover the earth. We have suffered greatly. Only love can heal this breech, this wound. We have to nourish the love that makes it possible for a country like this, a country filled with people from so many different nations move as one. The greatness of America, the thing that makes it work is the overwhelming under current of love that reaches across every concivable chasm to unite. We show the world what love can do. That is why we are the light of the world. Without that love that light would go out. We have a responsibility to our country and to the world around us to keep that light burning. I love you. This conversation is about love, please join it with words of love.
