Hi everyone!
I never post in this section, but today I actually have a reason to, yay! So, my sister's boyfriend of 5+ years may be proposing during our trip in October. We've been making a list of all sorts of imaginative spots on Disney property he could potentially use as a proposal spot, but I'm running out of ideas. Where are some of the best spots to propose? Restaurants, parks, resorts, just tell me your ideas!

Also, have any of you been proposed to while at Disney World? If so, what was it like and what happened? Thanks everyone.

Rick proposed to me at the fountain behind the castle. In fact as we were walking by it I said to him "you know a lot of people get engaged by that fountain," moments later he took me back by and proposed (he got nervous and didn't know where else to propose).

It was perfect. :)

I love these threads!:lovestruc

I was proposed to at Disney World. My DF proposed up in front of the castle right at the entry way that leads into Fantasyland. He proposed at midnight when the park had announced it's closing for the evening & we had the castle all to ourselves. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect moment!!:cloud9:

Other ideas I have read about:

1) At Cinderella's Round Table Restaurant in MK: You can actually call and book a special "engagement dinner package" It includes the meals, they seat you right at the window with a beautiful view, and the waiter delivers the ring on a glass slipper with a special dessert. Someone takes a photo to capture the moment and I think you get to keep the glass slipper.

2) The fountain that the previous poster mentioned is a beautiful idea.

3) In the rose garden at MK

4) During Wishes or Illuminations fireworks

5) On the beach at the Polynesian during Wishes

6) In Epcot somewhere in the World Showcase. Each country has a romantic spot that might be really fun to propose at.

7) Book a horse and carriage ride at POR.

I also read a story somewhere of a guy who proposed to his wife right before the drop on Splash Mountain!

You might also want to show him this website:

WDW is so romantic, I'm sure he will find a place that will be great for them. Congratulations to them both!!:goodvibes

If I could pick the place to be proposed at I would pick while riding Dumbo the Flying Elephant.....

Although DF and I are planning our wedding already he has yet to oficially give me the ring(that he has:rotfl:)

So maybe it is not too late !

The DF proposed in the Rose Garden...I think we have photos in our PJ :)

Thanks for all the really great suggestions and help, guys! :goodvibes
I have no idea what he's going to go with, but he seemed pretty impressed by the list I gave him.

He can propose on the Grand 1 Yacht while watching the Wishes fireworks and when she says yes, have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries ready to serve.

I like this idea! That's what I had, but on a private fireworks cruise on a regular boat...not Grand 1! :thumbsup2

A girl I knew got engaged on the stage of the American Idol experience. She sings, so they did a fake "audition" for her. She sang her song and he came out of the wings of the stage after her song and proposed to her on stage. They gave her a video of the proposal and everything. It was sweet!

My sister's husband proposed to her on Splash Mountain. Right before the drop, he asked her if she'd "take the plunge" with him. She said yes, and down they went!

You know if my DF was going to propose to me again I think I would like something similar on the Tower of Terror - it's my favorite ride - right before the drop. :woohoo:

Does the OP know if the 'bride' has an all time favorite ride - that might be a nice idea.

For a romantic proposal I would like the fireworks cruise (does not have to be the grand 1) and have the boat captain bring out some nice wine or champage after the proposal. On the beach watching the fireworks would be great as well.

You could also get in touch with guest relations at say Magic Kingdom or your resort if staying on Disney property and see if they could help you with some magic.

Hi, This is my first time posting here but I just got engaged in animal kingdom a few weeks ago. My fiance and I were walking around animal kingdom and took a little known path that takes you to the base of the tree where there is a waterfall that you can walk under. As we were walking we paused under the waterfall, he gave me a hug and got down on one knee and proposed. It was beautiful and great.

There are a lot of great nooks and crannies throught animal kingdom. Good luck.

proposing on the Grand 1 would be awesome. :thumbsup2

I think Sago Cay would be a nice private spot during wishes. Low light setting, quite romantic. We watched Wishes there one time and it was pretty cool, nobody else was there but my fiance and I. :rotfl:

My fiance proposed just before the Illuminations fireworks at Epcot. We'd arrived in WDW in the early afternoon, and though he wanted to go to MK, I insisted we needed an entire day to spend there. I didn't know it was because he knows that's my favourite park and had wanted to propose before the Wishes fireworks.

We'd been watching the Princess and the Frog pretty much every night the week before leaving because it had just come out on DVD. So, he had the ring in a real walnut shell (he'd spent a day with his dad trying to open walnuts perfectly, hollow it out and glue it back together with the ring inside).

We had great seats at the edge of the lake for the fireworks, which made it a little nerve wracking when I was trying to pry open the shell!

I think a good proposal would be on one of the sleigh rides at the Wilderness Lodge near Christmas time. Or perhaps right when it starts to snow during either Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party or at the beginning of the Osborne Lights. Both are pretty magical moments in Disney, and could be really special. Of course, that isn't really helpful for a summertime proposal idea haha.

What about a proposal in a private carriage ride through POR? That resort is pretty quiet and more adult-oriented, so I think it has the potential to be pretty romantic.

I did suggest the Port Orleans carriage rides actually, because I totally agree with you! My husband and I stay at the French Quarter almost every year, though this year we'll be stayin at the Saratoga Springs with my sister and her boyfriend. I'm sure she would love this, she's such a hopeless romantic!

My DF proposed to me in WDW outside Tony's Restaurant on Main Street! He knew that Lady and the Tramp was my favourite Disney movie and asked on the lady and the tramp pawprints after we had dinner at Tony's!

The only advice I could give would be to make it as personal as possible (like picking a place after her favourite movie, etc)! But anywhere in disney is magical of course :lovestruc

My fiance and I got engaged last June in WDW. We had a nice dinner at Narcoosee's and then decided to watch Wishes from the beach at Grand Floridian. It was private and perfect :)
