I know there are good and bad to both... but which do you really prefer? Is it worth the extra to stay "onsite"? If so, is it worth the "extra" for the club level room, with the "free" drinks, breakfast, etc..?
Do you buy all 3 meals a day out in the park? How expensive is that? Is there a grocery store within walking distance to stock up on stuff to keep in the room?
Any help is appreciated

Welcome aboard.

As to On or Off site, everyone here will recommend staying onsite if you can afford it.
There is no grocery store withing walking distance. The Publix is located about 5 minutes north of the park here.

Some limo services will stop at the Publix as a perk for using them.
Whether you rent the car, or take the limo, it's best to stop at the grocery store before you check in. That way, you'll have snacks and drinks in your room from the start.

When are you going? Alot depends on that. We haven't stayed onsite yet as we like to go to all the different parks in Orlando and we hate the thought of hotel hopping, lol. We would have to do Usf/IAO for 3-4 days in a row as well instead of spreading it out over 10 days and do different parks in between. We'll be there next week offsite. We figure if crowds are bad one day, we can buy an express plus (only 15.00 the time we're going) and it will still be way cheaper then paying 250.00 a night. We are staying in a condo because we LOVE having the space and we got a great deal for a 2 bdrm at 72.00 a night.

We'll let you know how if turns out...good or bad, lol
