I'm thinking of trying this out on our vacation this year. Our times are a little more flexible this year, plus I'm willing to do one connection to save $$$. My question is ... do they always pick the worst times for these name your own price airfares. Has anyone done this and been happy with the results? I'm pretty flexible on time, but I do want to arrive at our destination before 8 pm.

Then you do NOT want to do a "name your own price" airfare. You can't specify anything about the flight other than departure and arrival airports.

By not dealing directly with the airline, if the original flight is cancelled or times change, you can't call the airline to ask about getting you on a different flight with times closer to your original flights - you would have to go through Priceline, and they are not accommodating to this type of thing.

It may be OK for hotels, but I would not ever chance it for airfare.

The first part is true but when my wife's flight to London got cancelled we did all of our rescheduling through the airline, not Priceline.

I agree with this 100%. Just too much risk of getting a terrible flight with awful seats.

I can think of about 700 reason why the risk is worth it. That's how much we saved over the best airfare we could find on our own. Priceline is especially good if you need to fly at a time when it's too late to qualify for discount airfares. Not much good at all if you are planning well in advance.
