On MDE, how do I link my +1 Guest to their own account?

I seem to be in control of everything at the moment, my +1 Guest being just a name.
They do have their own account though, how can I link this to my reservation?

Go to your Family & Friends list on the MDE website. Click on 'Connect Through a Disney Account' for the individual and enter the email address they used to setup their MDE Account. They will receive an email saying that you want to connect and they will need to accept to establish the connection.

I remember doing it once before, but it was about 3 years ago when things were probably still in beta testing...

One more question, what do I do to link the memory maker? We have gold annual passes linked, so should that not automatically do something?
