We have been going to Universal for three years straight and are now a Loews Platinum card holder. My question is this-if we would decide not to go to Universal this year or not stay on the property, or basically not use our card at all this year, would we lose our platinum card privelages for next year's vacation? Would we go back to the Blue level?

Loews currently does require maintaining a minimum number of nights every year to keep Gold/Platinum status. As of now, it seems that once you attain a certain level, you have it for life.

According to the Loews site, once a Member attains a tier level (GOLD/PLATINUM), this level will remain in effect through the end of the subsequent calendar year.

Members must requalify each year for the following year's membership.

To re/qualify for Gold requires three (3) qualifying stays or six (6) nights stay.

To re/qualify for Platinum requires ten (10) qualifying stays or fifteen (15) nights stay.

To be honest I cant really see them enforcing these rules for the Universal hotels for the timebeing.

So, basically what you're all saying is that if we don't use our Loews Platinum card this year, we will drop down to the Loews Blue. We've stayed on Universal property three years in a row and had hoped to finally be able to qualify for a free upgrade next trip. Now, since we may not be able to go this year, we may lose that privelage and have to start all over again? What a bummer!!

They will want the repeat custom and people with gold and platinum cards are their best customers, so I doubt Loews would drop anyone down a tier or back to loews blue. I have never heard of it. One of the reasons we keep going back there is because I know I should get a Suite for the price of a garden room. To be honest I wouldn't take much notice of the terms and conditions I posted above.

I've literally gone years in between stays at Loews and have yet to be downgraded from platinum. They also have never sent me any status reports of my stays.

What their web page has in the T&C and what they do in practice seems to be two different hings.

Steve :confused3
