Is the online check-in really a time saver, or just a way for disney to track guests? I

Um, Disney has a ton of ways to track guests. You have already been tracked just by reserving your resort room. It's the year 2012, you are being tracked every single minute of your day.

But back to Disney World - yes, online check in can save you a lot of time. But it's meant for people who don't have tons of requests and just want to get their room key, basic resort info (without tons of verbal information), and the parking pass. Just show your photo ID and credit card, pick up your packet and go.

I agree.. I got a room that was ready at 11:30AM but it wasn't what I requested... but I was like fine.. its ready now...

Can't wait to do the online check in for our trip this December...anything that gets us through this process quicker with 3 kids sounds good to me. Thanks for all the helpful info!

more times than not online check-in is much quicker...you walk up, state your name, show your id and credit card they have your cards ready and you leave with a good cm you can be away from the desk in mere minutes. what slows it down (from my experience) is when someone does online check-in then has a million questions. to me if you have questions or special requests do regular check-in. i've also found since online check-in we've had more occasions that our room was ready before 3pm but that could be coincidence. my biggest complaint with online check in has been when i travel with just my sister or just my daughter. just because we're a party of two does not mean we want to stay in a king bed together and sometimes the system will automatically bump a party of 2 into this type of room.

I've stayed at various WDW Resorts within the past 3 weeks (the beauty of living in Orlando, working for WDW i.e room discounts!, and having lots of friends/family that visit and want to stay at the resorts!) and I've done online check-in for all of them.

It does save you time. The first resort I stayed at was 3 weeks ago at POP and we did online check-in and the room was ready at 8am same time as I noted for my online check-in.

Next was WL and I put in arrival at 12pm and the room was ready upon arriving at 8am but I asked to have a room in the North Tower which was granted (and upgraded!) so we had to wait for that room but I got the text at 12:15pm that the room was ready.

CSR was after that and we said check-in at 9am and the room was ready upon check-in at 9am but we were put in building 4 and I asked for 8A so even though we did online check-in, one phone call away and we were in 8A.

Last was 2 nights ago at POP again. I put 7:30am arrival and the room was ready at 7:30am. After giving me the room keys, the computer was saying another family occupied the room so the CM had to switch us to another building which was quick and painless so if you aren't happy with your room selection you are given you can still ask to switch even if you did online check-in!

My last stay of the summer is Friday at the Beach Club. I put a 9am arrival so we'll see if it's ready!!!

How soon before your trip can you check-in online? and how early can you check-in in person? I know that sometimes rooms aren't always ready early in the morning, but just wondering what time is the normal check-in time.

This sounds awesome! I have a question about check-in time. The plan is to go to MK on the day we arrive right after check-in. We don't even want to waste time by going to our room first. Our flight is scheduled to land at noon, so I figure we could be at POFQ by 1:30, but we won't be going to our rooms until after we get back from MK. what time should I put for check-in?

I have tried online twice now...each time they couldn't find me in the system when I got there.

It was no big deal to me but it's just as easy for me to get there and stand in line.

It just proves to my DH however that computers don't like me and they break when I'm around. A lot of things go wrong computer-related when I am at home or Disney, and always to my detriment. I just think it's because I'm so magnetic. :badpc:

Is there a separate line then for the online check-ins?

And would this reduce the possibility of the pixie dust upgrades? Most of the upgrade stories I hear are people coming in late or tire or whatever and they interact with the CM who then gives them a bump.
