We have four rooms booked for an upcoming trip for my family and some extended family. I know that we can go to the member site and do on-line check-in for the room that we will be in and can see that we could also do it for the three other rooms we have reserved for family. Do our guests have the opportunity to do online check-in through their MDE or is it only available through the member website? If I do online check-in for everyone, will that present any problems? I can't remember if the credit card number is done through online check-in or through MDE.

Hope this question makes senseo_O

I do it from the MDE site, not through members service. I imagine if the family has a mde account and the reservation us in their name, then they should be able to do it. They might have to link it.

Thanks. I went to MDE and tried the online check-in, but I have one issue. My BIL and SIL are staying in the 2BR with my family. Can they be in our room, but not have charging privileges on our credit card? It was requiring me to list a PIN for them. I would assume that gives them charging privileges to our credit card account. We are covering their room, but weren't planning on them having charging rights to our card. I thought with the Magic Bands, that the charges were tied to the band not the room anymore. Am I mistaken?

You can do online checkin, then when you get to the hotel, just head to the front desk and ask them to turn off charging privs for them.

Can they set up their own card to charge if they want to - just not on our card?

They can set up charging privileges at the front desk.

On my May trip, one of my guests tried charging with her MB at BOG, and her charge showed up on my account, it defaulted to the room reservation.

We have had two credit cards on one reservation so I know it can be done. We did it at the front desk. I think the way it worked was we each had an MDE account which was tied to the MBs. We also had occasion to just use one card and then the night before check out the other person went to the front desk and had their charges moved to their credit card.

I checked in 3 rooms on my account earlier this month. It didn't create a problem, but they will not allow you to do anything with the other rooms that you are not physically in. I find this odd as I am the one paying for the room with my DVC membership. I thought that I would have better luck getting the rooms close together with online check versus waiting until we got there and most of the rooms were already assigned. I am not sure if it made a difference, but all of our rooms were within 6 rooms of each other so it worked out.

Do they automatically try to get the rooms near each other? We have 2 rooms but there is no option for that on online check in. I would rather have that over a room location so I did not make a request.

Call member services and make sure that the reservations are linked. That will then prompt them to try to get the rooms near each other. Don't expect right next to each other, but they did a great job with our 3 room booking earlier this month.

They are under the same reservation number. I hope that means they are linked. Thanks for your reply

Request the rooms be near each other through MS. Then when (or if) you do online check-in, be sure to totally skip the section that asks about requests. Just hit the continue or next button without doing anything else on that page. If you do anything on that page, you will erase anything you told MS.

I think the phrase they use is " traveling with."

It worked recently for me.

We had our family do their own online check in by logging into MDE on their own account for our June reservations. It worked out fine. We had Member Service add "traveling with" to each reservation and requested a high floor at BLT and we both were assigned to the 9th floor with only a 1BR lockoff separating our two rooms (a studio and a dedicated 2BR).
