On line check in car hire

Can anyone tell me which car hire companies have an online check in facility so that I dont get hassled with upgrades! Ideally, I'd like to check in at home, print the documents and collect the car from the lot - - - - - which is best for this?

you won't be able to do that with any company unless you are from the US or Canada or unless you already rented through that company.

They will need to see you driver's license and passport (some will require even more ) before they issue the rental agreement. Or you'll need to be in their system and have signed up to a "customer club" or whatever. But this will still require you to show your documents on the first rental after you signed up for the "club"

The most hassle free company so far (for me) must be Alamo.

3rd Alamo.. Used them every time now.. Seem to work out cheapest and never get hassle when collecting car

If you book your car hire through Virgin then you can check in online.

Hi we use Budget and check in on line and instead of queuing and it was a long queue we went straight to the car pick up handed over the paper work and got our car all within 10 mins.

We check in online before we leave home a day or so before flying and then print the papers.

We always book with virgin atlantic for Alamo and have never had a problem.

It saves so much time and you choose your car in the category you paid for before most others come out to the garage, because they are at the desk

You usually have to ring virgin to get the Alamo reference to check in online, but I don't know if you can do this with Alamo direct
