We are planning on purchasing the DDE in April and just want to make sure of a couple of things.
First, the cards can be purchased at any guest relations and used instantly? Second, can my FIL purchase a card and my husband purchase the second card or do you have to be living at the same residence to purchase the second card? Also if he can purchase the second card, does he need to be present to have any picture taken or show id to get the second card?
Thanks!

I believe now they give it to you right away at guest relations.

I believe only the same household can get 2nd card....
but if you are all eating together you only need 1 card....good for
up to at least 8 people.
I didn't take any picture for my DDE card.

I just read the info for the DDE card. The initial card is for one family member ...the second card can be purchased by a spouse or a partner. I dont think that your father in law can get the second card . Will you be together most of the time? When we go in May, we will get one card for my husband and myself and when we go to the restaurants. We will pay for the total people.

Thank you for the responses. We are a party of 7 (4 adults 3 kids) but at least one night, my DH and I go out alone and my inlaws do the same so we are trying to figure if it is really worth it if we will not always be together.

I had to go to a specific Guest Relations at the front of Epcot to pick up my temporary DDE card. I did order it from home though. I am not sure if that had anything to do with it, but we could not just go to any old Guest Relations. We tried to go to two wrong ones (the one at the international gateway, and there are at least two at the front of the park, of course we went to the wrong one first!)

You still have to be either a Florida Resident or an Annual Passholder (or both) to buy the DDE Card.

Members receive 1 card, and can purchase an additional DDE card for their spouse/partner. Both must live at the same address and be 21 years and above.
Also I have read guests may buy the DDE membership at Guest Relations at each of the WDW parks or DTD, for immediate use.

Not sure when you got your card but, late last year, the policy changed and you can now purchase the DDE at any Guest Relations location at Disney World.

:goodvibes Also remember that starting 1/1/08 there is now an automatic 18% tip added to your DDE meals:

NEW GRATUITY POLICY!
Beginning on January 1, 2008, DDE will have 18% gratuity added to all transactions regardless of party size.

:dance3:

We purchased our card at DTD Guest Relations last week. I already had an annual pass. The transaction took less than three minutes. The new card is the unrippable paper like the APs.
