Any one know the times required to get into a specific corral? I am running a 10k next week for a time to submit and hope to finish around 1:10. Any idea how far back that will put me? I am not very fast (average 11 - 11:30 per mile).

probably with the exception of elite or the rw challenge, until they have all the times submitted, no way of knowing what corrals will have what time..

Which race? On page 79 of the 2014 PHM thread there's an image of the corrals and their corresponding qualification times for the 2013 PHM. I don't know how link directly to it or repost the image. I know each race has different qualifying times and they change yearly, but it will give you a general idea.

Thanks, I'll go check that out. I am doing the GSC. Just wondering because I am pretty worried about the back to back race thing:) I know I'll be able to do the 10k but pretty nervous about the 1/2 right after.

I'm doing GSC too. I have the exact same concern. I would be fine with either, but the combo is the unknown:)

For the WDW Marathon Weekend this year, I used a 1:15 10K time, and got Corral C in the Half Marathon.

I understand that they're reworking how they assign corrals this year (hopefully going to be a little stricter so that it's safer for everyone), but this was my experience last year.

As far as back to back racing, my husband did the Goofy last year, and talked to Jeff Galloway about the best strategy. Jeff said to just take it easy on the first day's race. Walk as much as you have to, don't worry about the time, just get the darn medal. Save your legs for day two. And HAVE FUN.

I hope this helps!

My first thought is to tell you that it just doesn't matter. The important thing is to get a qualifying time so you're not in the back. After running your 10K, put your time into something like McMillan running Calculator to get an idea of a "goal time" . I would consider subtracting a few minutes off of that time.

But, then on race day, talk to the pace team people to see where they are starting for your real goal. A would start with them or a little behind them. From experience, you don't want to start too far forward,I did it at Disneyland, and went out too fast to keep up with the people around me and ended up walking the last 3 miles. I finished, but my time was horrible.

I second this.....

As long as you have a supporting race you will be assigned a corral that is commiserate with your speed. The worst thing a runner can do at this point is to not support an estimated time that requires a race proof. If one fails to run a supporting race you are assured being in the very last corral and having to fight your way through a few thousand runners in the first few miles. Rest assured that an 11 minute pace will put you in the front half of the race. If you find yourself gaining speed as you get into September, run an additional 10k race and resubmit proof later in the fall.

Thank You all !

I ran my first "official" 10k this morning (in the rain) and finished at 1:05:26.
Not a great time, but not the worst I could do. I was pretty far back in the pack and was pretty afraid of coming in last, but I held in there and came in 114 of 126.
It was a pretty hilly course and I haven't really trained for hills, so I need to get on that ASAP. Just glad I have a time to submit now :)
