I'm just curious here. To be honest, we're usually too cheap on our very last day to pay someone to help us do something we physically can do ourselves, take our luggage down to store for the day. I am curious what everyone else does though, do you take the time to call for help or do you do it yourselves?

We take our own luggage down at OKW usually because our car is parked right outside our door. So it's no big deal.

At all other DVC's we have called Bell Services. Worth the tip in our opinion. They take your luggage right out to the curb where you pick up your car. We've done this at BWV, VWL and AKV so far...........

If we are at BWV, we call. Otherwise, we haul ourselves.

We use bell hop services when we change hotels because we have more than luggage - food, flowers, etc. However, when we are leaving, we take our own bags because we only have our luggage and everyone is responsible to carry/pull their own!

I feel about lugging my suitcase like some people feel about cooking in their villa. NO WAY!:scared1:

It is all about the convenience. And the going rate is $1 a bag so..... Now there have been times when we had two car loads of stuff. (We had gotten married that year) and we tipped each bell hop $20, but it was well worth it.

On a side note it surprises me how many people won't take a cab to get from resort to resort when you can go between most for less than $20/w tip and save yourself at least an hour.

We have always done it ourselves, but now that we are doing Owner's Locker, I can see that changing.

At BWV, I usually put the car in valet parking the night before. Sometimes I call for the luggage & the car and have take the luggage to the car. Most times if I don't have alot I will just call for the car and take the luggage down myself.

We always take advantage of help from bell services. It's vacation - that's what they're around for! :) (I always valet park, too, even before I was a DVC member and it was free.)

We (or I,if I'm solo) always do it, not bell services. I think part of it is that when I get the courage up to leave my WDW "home", I want to do it quick and painlessly, not wait for bell services.

We called, we waited...and waited...and waited...and waited...

*crickets*

We took it down ourselves.

We usually have to store it for awhile before we get the ME bus and we have so much crap we call for a bell cart. We used to try to do it ourselves but at some point we realized what a disfunctional bunch we really are and gave up on that idea.

We always do it ourselves, but our last two trips have been ground floor OKW. We might reconsider if we happen to get the third floor.

Stay usually at BWV or AKV. Always use bell services for luggage. It is our way of cheating on the 11 o'clock check out time.

You see, certain members of my family have the slow-packing gene. Check-out morning I am usually up, packed, and ready to go by 8. For others, there is stage one, getting them out of bed, which usually involves a series of threats, including that I will pour water on their heads, and it takes quite a bit of time and effort. Stage two is the pre-packing stage. That involves numerous inquiries such as "Aren't you done yet in the bathroom?" and "Haven't you started to pack yet?"

Stage three is the "almost" stage. That usually involves asking the question, "Are you packed yet" every 10 minutes for about 2 hours to which the response is always "almost." Stage four is the too much stuff phase. Invariably at some point I am informed by one or more that there is too much stuff for the suitcases and thus at least one of them must go down and have stuff packed and shipped. That quickly leads to the "You go out and cool down" stage as I am informed that my belligerence is not appreciated and that I should sit on the porch and have a cup of coffee.

Finally, moments before 11 o'clock comes the "Have you seen my" stage. This often involves multiple parties calling out, "Have you seen my belt?" "Have you seen my cell phone" etc. It is at this point I call for bell services, and thus technically meet the 11 o'clock deadline, while the internal conversation continues with things like, "When did you last have it?" "I can't remember?" "Did you take it off in the park?" "Why would I take my belt off in the park?" "Did you pack it?" "No." "Have you actually checked whether you did?" And eventually, after searching every closet, drawer, under the beds, under the sheets, in the refrigerator, somebody says, "Oh, it's in my suitcase." Meanwhile, it is approaching 11:30 or even later but, as I know from experience, when I call bell services just before 11, they are generally very busy and they don't show up for anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, and thus by using them I buy that extra time needed to actually check-out.

We usually use Bell Services. At SSR we call the night before to make our reservation and they are always there right on time or within 5 mins...they rock at SSR and even OKW. We even have a special Bell Services cast member and he is AWESOME. I don't know if I can say his name but it begins with a M (no it is not Mickey himself..:lmao: )

I normally take the bags down myself, the only exception was VWL. We used bell services since 1) it was a long walk to the car 2) we had a lot of groceries since we were changing resorts.

I can see using bell services at BWV and AKL as well since it may be a hike from the room to the car.

Depends where we stay and how many of us there are..........at SSR and OKW definitely take ourselves....no matter whether there are two of us or six. Any of the others......if it's just DH and I, usually ourselves.......if the whole gang of us (DH, myself, three adult kids, and one grandson).....probably 9 or 10 bags....we call.

I always call, but then we never have a car. I suppose if we did and I were parked out near my room (SSR or OKW) we'd take care of it ourselves.

But it's vacation! Relax, enjoy, and keep a bell hop employed! $ :)

If it's just the two of us, we deal with our own bags no matter where we stay. If we're at one of the "hotel" type resorts and it's a larger group and/or includes kids, we call bell services. (If it's my sister's clan, we call an Allied Moving crew.:rotfl:)
