I just bought in to DVC in September. In December I made my first ressie for a 2 week trip I am taking in October/November. Based on advice from this board, I went ahead and made the reservation for all 13 nights at SSR, although I knew I wanted to try and change the last 6 nights to OKW at the 7 month window. In order to make the ressie I had to borrow 23 points from my 2005 UY. If I am successful at changing the last 6 nights to OKW, the total ressie will take 15 less points. I know I can't bank back the points I borrowed, but since I am still well within my window, I can bank 15 2004 points to 2005, right? Do I need to specify which UY points to use when I make the change or will MS already know that? I don't want to screw up and lose 15 points. Thanks.

You can bank the 15 points just like you said. The CM might let the 15 points go back into your 2005 account, but that is not policy. Either way the points will go to your 2005 points you just won't be able to bank them next year. I think this is a good thing, because you will just have to take a trip to Disney and use them..hehehe. I hope this helps. Don't worry you have everything correct.

Before you hang up from making the reservation, review your points and make sure the borrowed points were used for the reservation. At that point, if you want to go ahead and bank the leftovers you can do it. They will give you a banking number, write it down and keep it for future reference.
