I was wondering if someone could help me out with airfare during the summer. Our family usually doesn't go to Florida in the summer time but I happen to book the Disney Vero Beach resort for this June and I have been looking into flying and the airfare is really high from Manchester to MCO, its $179 one way(this is Southwest), is this normal for summer and I should just bite the bullet and pay the price or have you seen the prices drop closer to the beginning of summer in the past?

Thanks for the help

I have no idea about SW, but airfares are going no where but up. I have ours booked for May. from MN to Fl, for 238 round trip. I did this last week. Checked today and they went up 200. My niece was on line last night looking for Jan 18-21 from MN to Fl. While she was debating weather to bite the bullet and pay 468 for a round trip ticket, a notice came up saying it went up to 906! think alot more people are going to be driving.

Thanks for the info..I was wondering if anyother Disboarders who travel mainly in the summer notice that their ticket prices are higher at that time of year, than say spring? And if they noticed that this summer seems alot more expensive than usual..

It's a gamble. We're travelling the beginning of June (actually leave Memorial Day weekend), booked about a week after tix were available and snagged $144 RT! The prices haven't been close sense.

Some say 3 months out the prices will drop, some say 1 month out. My opinion... if you don't like to gamble and can afford the tickets now, get them... and don't price check anymore. If you don't mind gambling and/or have a 'Plan B' (driving) if you don't get a good rate, wait. Keep checking. I think Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays are supposed to be good days to be looking at pricing.

Also, don't be afraid to at least LOOK at other airlines.

I usually fly in July from MHT or PVD and I usually can get $99 each way. I wouldn't pay $179. This summer we are flying down the last week of May and flying home on June 2nd. I was able to book today for $92 for the flight home, but the flight is at 6:35am. :scared1: I'm hoping that one of the later times that day goes down, otherwise I might as well just sleep in my clothes the night before. :lmao:

gas is up, flights are being booked despite the increasing costs, unless you are a Tues or wed flight or luck out with a DING from sw, I would not wait it out, I'd book it if you do not have flexibility. Good Luck

They seem really high to me as well for June (this is our 3rd time down at that time). I fly from Chicago Midway to Orlando (typically to and from on Tue or Wed) and normally get it for around $80. The lowest I have seen so far was $106, and it wasn't even a nonstop flight. For the most part they have been around $150 each way.

I definitely plan on waiting it out for a couple of months and will pull the trigger if it gets below $90.

What I did was checked 3 different airlines and made a spreadsheet for the last Saturday of each month until we leave, just so I could see if there was really any price difference. 2 airlines were the same no matter what month I went, Southwest was at its lowest 3 months from my travel date. At this point I know the highest I am going to pay is $1202, the least would be $994. Just have to see what the prices are like when we get our tax refund. We are not opposed to driving, but since this is my birthday trip, I would love to fly.
