We stayed at the Omni Cchampions Gate for the first time last summer. We are generally, Disney on site/Marriot people and go to Disney about 3 times a year for a week or more trip. This year I am going 5x total. Last summer we booked 5 nights at Omni and 7 at AoA Little Mermaid room. From the moment we checked in to AoA, DH wanted to go back to the Omni. (And we had quite a few stays at AoA so he knew what it is all about) I asked DD6 where she wants to stay this summer, Little Mermaid or Omni and she picked the Omni. So we are doing a split stay between Omni and Beach Club. So, this year, we stayed Omni Easter week after a disaster trying to book a house, I go to Omni in July for a conference and our summer trip in August will be there.
Enough background...the hotel is gorgeous. It is big, but the shape means that you are not too far from an elevator. We stayed on the 7 floor last summer and could see fireworks in the distance from the window at the end of the floor. If you sign up for the Omni Select Program, it's free, you will have 2 beverages delivered to your room each morning. The pool is really well layed out. Easy access to each area: slide, splash area, you can walk into it, and of course the lazy river. The rooms are quite big too. There is a fridge in each room. On the way back to the hotel you pass a Publix, a pizza place and McD.
In the summer we never stay at the park all day. We take an afternoon break. I just asked DH how far the parks were and he said, AK was about 15 and Epcot about 30 from Omni to parked car walking into the park. Which is actually about the same as Disney transportation. Last Easter week, we stayed some days and went back some days. The weather was not great to swim, and we had my MIL who used a
scooter so transitions were a bit of a pain.
We paid $145 Easter week (we paid $200 for 1 night at PoP Century, which was insane) and looks like summer will be around $110. The price does not include the resort fee and parking fee, plus you will have to pay to park at Disney 1x a day. If you are comparing a value/moderate resort to Omni, and the price is within $20 then I would say the Omni wins. If the price is more than $20 you have to decide if you want the luxury vs saving money at Disney to spend on other things. This summer we are spending $200 a night for the Beach Club. Totally worth it. So, during our split stay, our Omni will be around $140, so that is the savings part of the trip. We have Little Mermaid booked at $110 and DH feels that the $30 is worth it for the deluxe feel and the pools at Omni during the summer.
The two times we stayed they had a chalkboard by the pool with activities, but I never saw anyone doing activities. There is a kids club, but again, I never saw any activities and DD did not go. We have gotten ice cream at the deli, but did not eat at the restaurants. And there is a spa.
I am looking forward to attending a conference there in July. This conference is national and was held in in CA. AZ and FL twice in the past 4 years. I was thrilled that the company selected the Omni out of all the Orlando hotels. (It was at Rosen Shingle Creek last time in FL)
I would be happy to try to answer any specific questions that you may have...
