Omg!!

But I do think it's really quite sucky for the McCain campaign to be leaking all of this stuff *one* day after this thing is over. It's pretty crappy if you ask me.....and will likely rally the base even *more* behind her.

Well, you pee off the wrong people and, ya know;)

She was nice enough, but she seemed dimmer by the day:rolleyes1

Her views on a woman's right to choose turned me off:scared: As did her folksie schtick:rolleyes:

I do feel bad for her. The people who deserve the blame are the ones who chose her. Just the way McCain's whole campaign was run is the reason why he lost.

I agree.

And I must say, that I saw a clip of Palin in Alaska yesterday....speaking with reporters before heading inside to vote. She was engaging, she was dressed in more casual attire, she just seemed much more at ease with herself. I wondered why they didn't let her do that more often.

She reminds me of George W. in that respect. He too was awful in formal interviews. He just didn't have it. And Palin was much more effective in delivering a teleprompted speech or even a stump speech than Bush ever was.

But like Bush.......she was at her best in more impromptu settings, whether it be out shaking hands with supporters or *quick* informal interviews. I think Bush held the least amount of formal press conferences than any President before him.....he did get a *little* better as time went on. But some of those puppies were tough to watch (and I voted for the guy).

Listen, I don't agree with Palin's social views at all....and her religious beliefs frighten me. But she was handled poorly, and while I really don't want her to end up heading up the next ticket (because I think she takes the party too far to the right).....still, I think it sucks that they are sabotaging her now. "Here's your hat Sarah.....what's your hurry?!! Take care and thanks for your help!"

Was I the only one who found it ironic that the reporter complaining of her shortcomings used the word "knowledgeability?":rotfl: I don't think that's a real word, either...:rotfl:

DVCgirl, I meant no offense to you. I think you do know your stuff. :) I just wasn't agreeing with you and that is fine, I can agree to disagree because I'm really not into politics.

I totally agree with what you are saying about them though. And for me, it is wrong. Wrong to trample another human being like that to further your cause and for me that is what they are doing.
It is not like I think she is the answer to anything but I think she is a nice and likeable person. Her spunk reminds me of Dolly Parton and people either love her or hate her. Being from around here, we like her ;) . I just do not think she deserves to be treated this way. Politics or not, I feel it is wrong and it has me seething. I'll be damned if I sit here and keep quiet and not voice my opinion that I think it is wrong. I hope karma bites their butts. It'll be a cold day in heck before I forget this nice little move of theirs.

It's okay Buckalew11....I didn't take offense, I was just hoping I didn't offend you :).

And I don't hate *her*. She seems like a perfectly nice person. And I think she's a very good fit for Alaska. I just don't think she was ready for the #2 slot, and I think she pulls the party way too far to the right (at least for my moderate Republican taste ;).

I do think that the party has to figure out what to do. I can imagine the RNC big whigs looking at that electoral map this morning, all looking at each other and saying......"Now what?!?"

I listened to Rush today....I'm not a fan, but I like to hear what the base of the party has to say. He's calling for the party to go ever more to the right. Of course. But I think he's wrong. I think that the demographics of this country are changing. I read an interesting article about the Culture Wars sort of being over....that social issues were not the big deal that they had been in the two previous elections. And that Sarah Palin, culture warrior, showed up when the war was already finished.

I'm not so sure about that.....but I do think that the RNC is looking at a lot more blue than they've seen in a long, long time.

I heard that and thought, "Is that even a word?" But I'm such a *simple girl* that I figured it was some word they don't teach in HS! ;) :rotfl:

What a *******.

And DVCgirl, thanks. :flower3: You are really nice.

This isn't really breaking news is it??? Fox News was "told by some folks" (I believe that's what was said) all of these things, oh sooooo credible! BTW didn't our new President-Elect once say that there were 57 states in the U.S.????;)

I hate to say "I told you so..." but, on the day Sarah Palin was named as John McCain's running mate, I said that based on my ten years of exposure to her, she was not qualified to be president.

She clearly is not qualified. It's nothing against her--but someone whose life experience matches hers is not ready to be President.

She is a great governor--mostly because of the sleaze that is Alaska politics. We are on the verge of returning a convicted felon to the Senate. We voted for Ted Stevens because he can no longer vote for himself. It's a low hurdle for someone to look exemplary against this backdrop.

I might buy some of that if I had never heard her speak. The reality is she proved she is much smarter than most of her critics. So many times when people would seek to pounce on something she said (like about the GSEs or the constitutional role of the Vice President), it became apparent that she was operating on a higher level of understanding that those seeking to belittle her.

There can be no doubt that McCain was handled by nitwits, and the same applies to them.

But I do think it's really quite sucky for the McCain campaign to be leaking all of this stuff *one* day after this thing is over. It's pretty crappy if you ask me.....and will likely rally the base even *more* behind her.

You think so? I really hope not. I think that would show an absolute lack of brains on the part of the Republicans, to rally behind her even after she has shown herself to be totally and utterly unqualified and somewhat of an embarrassment in the minds of a lot of us. You can get mad that she's been picked on, but you can't argue that she doesn't deserve at least some of it! I am a Republican and would have probably voted for McCain, had he not picked Sarah Palin. She is crazy far right and just plain not up to the job, in my opinion. Not now, not ever. I don't think she's ever been a serious scholar of American history or politics and starting in your 40s is a little bit too late, to me. Never too late to learn of course but too late to catch up politically to those who have been paying attention since day 1. I will vote for Romney proudly if he runs in 2012, would have voted for him this time too, but NEVER for Sarah Palin. And by the way I find it somewhat believable that she sucks at political geography. Not sure about the Africa thing but why would they lie? Even if they did, I believe most of the leaked stories about her. Sue me.
Now if she were my girlfriend and we hung out and had drinks and took in a movie or went shopping I'd probably love her to pieces. I'm sure she's perfectly fine as a human being. But she is not smart nor qualified enough to be President. Obama, I didn't think he was qualified and let's face it, he was never the most qualified man for the job. But he is VERY smart and there's no denying that he takes America seriously and has studied this stuff for many years on a serious level, even if only for political ambition's sake. So I don't worry about him embarrassing me on the world scene in terms of being an ignorant person. Her, I worry about. A lot. I hope she goes away from the Republican party so I can come back to it!:upsidedow

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

There is a difference between making a dumb slip and not knowing about NAFTA and thinking Africa is a country! This woman was almost VP.

No wonder they kept her away from the press.

knowledgeability- wisdom as evidenced by the possession of knowledge

I guess visiting 57 states is better, huh? Oh and he didn't get to visit two others...so what there are 59 now?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws

Yes, it was a slip of the tongue, BUT, he corrected himself and still got it wrong!

Are you really trying to compare Obama to Palin. Let's be honest. I know that you don't believe that he really thinks there are 59 states. He meant 47, not 57. Simple mistake. And quote him right if you're going to quote him. He said he had 1 more to go since he couldn't visit Alaska and Hawaii. That was a momentary brain fart. There is a difference between saying something dumb that you know better and just being uneducated and not knowing any better.
Smart people know when they've said something stupid. Stupid people don't.

I agree, my choice is going to the White House in Jan. so why is this an issue now?

It is really strange Fox News seems to need a scapegoat. Here's an idea, focus on the future and ignore all the negative stuff. Geesh.

Actually I thought he meant states and territories that have delegates.

I count 56 but could be missing 1.

50 states
puerto rico, DC
Democrats Abroad, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands (1/2 votes)

I am just sick over this.:sad2: I also just watched the BOR interview with Carl Cameron, and my stomach is in knots. Do I really believe what is being said about Sarah Palin? No, I don't, but just the fact that her own campaign staff would say these things about her to most likely take the heat off of them for running a horrible campaign, makes me want to vomit. It's hard enough to fight your opponents let alone your own side. I guess it's a woman thing, as basically the same thing happened to Hillary. My respect for women in politics just went up exponentially.

So what to do now? What does one believe? Who do you believe? How do you know what you're being told is truth? This goes for both sides, Dems and Republicans? Do we really know our candidates, or do we know what the media want us to know?

I think from this point forward I will never again believe one thing I see written or said about a political person unless I hear it from their own mouths. I'm so disgusted
