Omg!!

From the moment she was announced, I was intrigued. I was not thrilled with Obama, and was seriously looking into McCain. For many of the reasons already stated, I could not bring myself to vote for that ticket mostly because of Palin. Of course I can't say for sure, but had McCain chosen almost anybody else, I probably would have voted for him.

I was expecting an Obama landslide, and was surprised at how close it actually was, given the financial meltdown and McCain's inability to disassociate himself from Bush (whose administration is rightly or wrongly faulted for this mess). I think McCain did very well given the circumstances, but if victory was the intent, picking Palin was a mistake.

Quite frankly, because there are some (on these boards even) who are already looking for this woman to run for office of the President of the United States of America in 2012. Seriously. You can't make this stuff up. :sad2:

Why does this horrify you? Is it her conservative values or are you going the unintelligent route? This isn't meant as disrespectful, I'm just wondering if it is her conservatism that is scaring people or her "lack of experience". I know that Obama's lack of experience is not what kept me from voting for him, but his belief system.

I know this wasn't directed to me, but I thought I'd give my opinion on the question.

I expect a conservative to run, so that doesn't horrify me. What's horrifying is the idea that with so many other conservatives to choose from, some would prefer to elect a candidate that thinks Africa is a country.

Not only that but is given a 25k budget for clothes and spends close to $200k. Fiscal conservative? You betcha!

Until I see the receipts, as well as those of the clothing worn during the campaign by the Obamas and Bidens, I feel this topic has no bearing at all.

you do not like christians??:confused3

Not all belief systems are about religion. I was speaking of his governing beliefs.

Until there is tape of Sarah Palin saying this, I will hold my judgment. There is quite a bit of tape out there on things Obama and Biden have said, as you well know. Does that horrify you? 57 states? J O B S, a three letter word? Do I need to go on? Can we keep this conversation from going off course?

I do not feel sorry for her one bit. All those hateful things that spewed out of her regarding Obama. It was just horrible.....You reap what you sew…. I guess she now knows how it feels to have people spew hateful things about you.

Yep! :thumbsup2 You BETCHA!

It has very little to do with lack of experience. I won't knock her for having limited experience. For me personally, it does have a lot to do with her ultra conservative views on social issues. But it has equally as much to do with her simple lack of knowledge on basic things such as geography and current issues. I would suggest that she take some social studies and geography classes and brush up on some of those things before she thinks about running again. Just a suggestion. :thumbsup2

So then I can safely assume you do believe everything you've been told and read regarding Sarah Palin's intelligence and knowledge. Alright. Then I guess I should take it you're okay with me believing everything I hear and read about Barack Obama.

I already responded to this on this thread. Here's what I said:

"They've all gaffed. I think it's impossible to talk as much as they have over the course of the campaign and not say some stupid things. The difference is core knowledge. McCain gaffed many times but we're not accusing him of not having the core knowledge necessary to be a world leader.

IF half of what they're saying about Palin is true, she was woefully unprepared to be in a world-class position. I don't think that can be reasonably disputed."

The point being "IF" what they are "SAYING" is true. So then, if half of what they are saying is true about Obama, he is a mighty scary man.

You also have to consider who is saying it. This was on Fox News from their correspondent covering the McCain campaign. If the MSNBC reporter covering the Obama campaign said something like this about Obama on MSNBC, I would believe it.

The Fox reporter is reporting what was told to him by campaign aides, he didn't hear it himself. I'm talking about hearsay. I don't care who said they heard it, I plan on reserving judgment until I hear it from the person's lips or there is undeniable truth.

I can't stand Palin, but I think it's time we stop bashing her. Yes, I know it's fun, I did it a few (or a lot) times during the campaign, but I'll take no part in kicking her while she's down.

Let the poor woman go back to Alaska and do her job there in peace.

I can understand that. Why do you think she's being thrown under the bus like this? I must admit that after all the criticism of the media and Obama supporters coming from the McCain campaign, it is sad to see them going after her themselves - and their criticism of her seems even harsher! She must feel very stabbed in the back right now.

Granted, Sarah Palin is not my favorite person in the world. I disagree with just about everything that comes out of her mouth.

I'm confused. Why push her out there as the best thing since sliced bread and then attack her? What motives do these people have for speaking out? Is this a blame game? Is this to prevent future runs for office?

Why do people think these people are throwing her under the bus now?

I don't understand it. All I know is that it is really turning me off to being interested in politics at all. I'm hearing that all losing campaigns do it, but I don't buy it. There might be a little grumbling and trying to place blame on why a campaign lost, but this is out and out burning at the stake. I've lost alot of respect for the McCain campaign.

I wonder if it's because of the talk prior to the election of Palin being ambitious and looking out for herself. Perhaps the people doing this feel like she ruined McCain's chances by being so concerned with her own career, so they want to ruin her chances as well. :confused3 Just a theory.

I don't think that's it. McCain chose Palin, not the other way around. I think it is a matter of a few people wanting to ensure they get the chance to work on another campaign in the future, and they know they did not handle the campaign well, so they are going to throw Sarah under the bus and try to blame her. All I know is that if I were the one running in the next election, these same campaign workers wouldn't get anywhere near me. If you can't trust people who are suppose to have your back, then you can't trust anyone. Wow, I am now just realizing how ruthless, cutthroat and dirty politics really is.

They all do it, but I don't think it's common to do it (to this degree especially) to someone that could possibly have a future career in the party. McCain, who is clearly on the downslope of his career and will not run for office again, would seem a better target for this. Kind of makes me think what is being said about her is true and they want her out of any future consideration.

The GOP is in desperate need of their own Obama like candidate to get the part back together.
