I can't believe I just booked a solo 4 night trip Dec. 9 - 13. I was going to go over New Years with DS, but that didn't work out. I still need as fix - so I decided to go alone! I've never done anything like this before!

Now I have a lot of research to do! Crowds? Weather? Which TS are best for solo? What all can I do that I've always wanted to do, but kids and hubby didn't? Do I want to upgrade to moderate? Is it worth it for just one person? (Certainly don't need the space!)

I'm so excited!!! Thanks for listening!

Hi Lisa - I'm doing my first solo as well - I'm a little nervous about it, but the addiction must be fed! I'll let you know how it goes. :cool1:

The DIS has a section for Solo travelers...if you post there, you might get more responses. I've gone alone. The first time I went, I was alone (sent for business), so maybe that helps me not worry about going solo. Plus, I like a few days just to be alone and have only myself to please...it is heaven.

The only thing I really don't like about going alone is standing in line. It is REALLY boring if you have nobody to talk to.

I don't think one table service is better than another. If you like the staff talking to you, they will. If you don't, they still will (but they get the hint quickly.) Ask for your check early and you won't have to sit there waiting for it...good advice even when you aren't alone, I guess. :)

The great part is the freedom to do (and NOT do) what you please. Nobody there saying they want to ride Kilimanjaro Safais or that they don't want to ride Spaceship Earth a second time.

Nobody to wake up and make them get in the shower. As much time to browse as you like. If you decide you'd rather stay in the pool than go to MGM, you can do it.

I ate in Mexico three days straight and nobody complained. :)

You do what you want to do when you want to do it and can change your mind as often as you please. Me, me, me! That's what it is all about solo.

And you can move around a lot faster, which saves a ton of time. Don't realize how much another person slows things down until you've been solo! Test Track and Expedition Everest have Single Rider lines, saving more time.

I'd go moderate, if you have it in the budget. The food courts have a better selection and you'll want pretty surroundings to look at. A standard room at WL and AKL is usually very little more than a mod with a king bed and a view, though. See how easy it is to talk yourself into more and more money? Do what is best for you. :)

Have a great trip!

I agree - if I was on my own, the cost would be minimal, so I'd upgrade to a Deluxe. It won't stretch your budget TOO much for one person, for 4 nights, and you'd have a ball! Real luxury!

That is great. My last solo was May 5th last year. You will encounter alot of kids from pop warner football and cheer leaders. The weather will be a little cool at night light jacket or sweatshirt. The weather is 85 during the day. If you went one week later there would hardly be anyone in the parks and there would be little or no wait time on ANY rides. Good luck but with the kids that may be a different story.

I think you just talked me into upgrading - don't think I can stomach the resort with all the kids running around. (I'm booked at Movies). It's only $200 more to upgrade to Mod. I'd love to go the next week with lower crowds, but that's just too darned close to Christmas!

Update: OK - You all even had me talked into upgrading to a Deluxe - but alas, none were available! So I went with CBR. I've never stayed there before - I hope I don't regret my choice. The potential to be so far from Old Port Royale kind of scares me - there weren't any preferred rooms avaialable.
