OMG- Zhu Zhu Pets are they the new Cabbage Patch Kids????

I was at our WalMart at 12:10, and they were completely out. One of the employees told me that they had 16, but people had lined up starting at 11. They went within minutes. So...if you really want one, get there early.

The manager called and told me he would hold two for me. I got there at 11:30 and he had them waiting at the register. I had to wait until midnight to buy them. I was walking around to kill time and found one of the Xbox consoles from this morning's sale.

It came with a $100 gift card!

When it was midnight the cashier waved me over. The cashier asked if I wanted four, since I wanted to do a different order with the Xbox so I could use the gift card on my other purchases. She would let me buy two per order.

The line grew with people wanting hamsters. As I was getting my bags off the turnsile I hear the cashier tell the lady behind me "that they only had 4 and THAT LADY TOOK ALL OF THEM."

I got out of that store fast! lol

Good for you!!! Congrats on finding them. I felt the same way when I found them at a walmart a few weeks back....I emptied the shelf (were only 8 there) and when I was walking through the store, I felt like all eyes were on me! Even the woman at the register looked like I struck gold. Now my sister and friends who were out looking will have them too. Can't believe how crazy it is becoming!!!

All of those people who can't tell a child, "No," I guess? Or have to have the latest fad? :confused3

I guess I just don't get the allure of these things. My DD and her friends haven't mentioned them at all.

That seems a little condescending. I most certainly tell my child no all the time (just ask him :rotfl:). But he saw these, he asked for them, and if I can get them I will. If I dont it's not the end of the world.

If I dont it's not the end of the world.

:thumbsup2

But that's where you differ from a lot of people I've seen on various boards talking about these. They are criticizing stores, supply chains, and the company, ready to fight a war if they don't get their share of hamsters! :rotfl:

Well, I guess I am glad I bought all of mine on ebay. Had to get complete sets for 4, and have almost all of the items and 6 hamsters. Top dollar, though, and when I got a ramp for $16.50 bid and $5,95 shipping, the seller was angry and emailed me telling me she was losing money on this transaction. Unbelievable.

A friend of mine just has to have Zhu Zhu Hamsters for her daughters for Christmas. Personally, I don't see what the big hoopla is, but Wal-Mart was supposed to have them this morning, so I was up for a Wal-Mart run at 5:30. What the heck! 'Tis the Season! Anyway, according to an employee, they were not supposed to sell them until 7:00 A.M. this morning. We got there at 6:00 and they were gone. When we asked, the man said they stocked the shelves at 12:01 A.M. and were sold out by 12:05. Not sure what happened to the 7:00 thing though. Oh well, got to go out for breakfast and bought a couple of presents at Wal-Mart. Good luck to you Zhu Zhu hunters!

Talked to my Grandmother (86 years old) and she has 2 Zhu Zhu Hamsters the Yellow and the Grey for my daughter!!!! WOO HOO - she want to Toys R Us and they were on the counter by the check out so my dear Grandma asked about them and got them both!!!! Guess I dont have to look for them anymore... WOO HOO!!! Leave it to her to find them... she is the bestest!!!! :) Luckily no fist fights were to be had but honestly my bet would be on Grandma Lola!!!! So Libby will be getting two Zhu Zhu Pets from her Great Grandparents!!!!!!!

The Wal-Mart where DH works (overnights on weekends) had 16 - they are a teeny, tiny little store. They sold them starting at 7 am today (there was a line out front), but DH couldn't get any because he was still on the clock at 7 am. :headache: They were limiting them to 2 per customer. I can personally guarantee that at his store, employees were *not* the ones getting the toys. No biggie to us - I'm just hoping to find the pink one when it comes out.

I think I am still in shock!! I went to TRU at 7am and not a soul was there. So I figured our TRU wasnt doing the first 50 customers thing! So just for kicks I went back at 8:30 and there was about 7 cars in the parking lot. So I waited to see what was gonna happen. At about a quarter till 9 everyone started lining up. Still, I was the last one in line and I was number 8!! The manager came out and said they have plenty, they got 50 in and its one per family and that the accessories were also one per family but if it stayed quiet like it was he would allow us to get 2. So I am set!!

I don't usually fall for the hype, but this is one "fad" that I can get behind.

At $8 a piece they are not a huge investment. I got all the accessory pieces weeks ago for buy one get one half off. That equaled to about $9 a piece.

Princess April = SCORE!!!!

I went to TRU this morning (thank you budget board buddies) and I was able to get the exact one my DD has been wanting. They were limiting it to 1 per family so I made my purchase, hopped in the car and called DH. When I arrived home he was ready to head out the door and he shortly came home with #2. As far as I'm concerned we are done. I MAY (and I mean may) get a couple of accessories for them, if I don't I'm sure DH will :rotfl2:, she is his little princess after all.... princess: I'm am soooo happy that I got them. thank you guys for helping the rest of us out and keeping it all in perspective, I was actually prepared to not be able to get them (I was not getting into a bidding war on E-Bay for something that I know she will loose interest in within 2 weeks) but I am happy that I did. Thanks guys and good luck and happy hunting to everyone.
Ya know I have wonder, was the "hunt" part of the fun???

I got one at the Whitehall, PA store at 10:02 this morning. They limited it to 1 per customer and they were down to white and yellow when I arrived. The guy said the gray and brown ones sold out first. I'm just glad I got one! I got a carrier/bed thing, too. Yippee!!

Now I have to go back because I was so worried about the zhu zhu's I didn't know about the Hasbro deal! Must go buy games now!

So I am curious has anyone seen the pink ones yet or even the babies that are in the back of the boxes?:wizard:

My Target must have had a bunch of them this morning...as I saw a sign that said "due to limited quantities the limit was 4 per person" plus the grey backorder stickers were taken off the price tags. I knew I should have gone to Target this morning...I was up at 7:15am with the kids anyway!!!

Ya know I just LOVE it when the stores get blamed when there's not much merchandise - anyone ever think of sending nasty grams to the manufacturer? :thumbsup2 They are the ones running the commercials & can't keep up with the demand! Once they got behind they should have stopped running the commercial so often or changed timeslots to the 3am time when noone would see them until they could catch up.
:rolleyes1

I saw the post on here at 1:20 this morning and went to TRU at 8:45 for the 9:00 opening. I was eighteenth in line and the manager was truly limiting the pets to one per family. Four women in line had all gone to various Walmarts and none had them. They were very angry!

I have two daughters so, if I don't score another pet, I will hold on to mine and wait for the January returns to roll in.

Actually... it isn't even completely the manufacturer's fault. This was explained to me by my friend's father who owns a specialty toy shop and can't get Zhu Zhu pets to stock.....

*The big toy show is held every February. It's at that event that toys are chosen to be the "big" hits of the year.... manufacturers produce their toys for 6 months if they're not expected to be big sellers..... so that brings us up through July. Then BOOM.... something takes off that wasn't expected to and the production for that particular toy has already stopped.... the manufacturer then needs to restart production, hire more people, order more parts, etc., etc., etc... thereby missing the crucial Christmas season demand..... come January/February, stores will be overstocked with Zhu Zhu stuff but it's after the Holiday shopping season...

What we have to blame for the shortage are the ebayers/dealers that run into stores, scoop up every single piece they can find and then they turn around and sell it for 3x or 4x the original price because of demand.... :sad2: I know that's been rampant around here and it's the reason why our Wal-Mart will not even put them out on the floor now-only giving rainchecks with a limit of 2 per person.... people were getting injured trying to rip apart boxes on the pallets before the employees could even put them on the shelves :confused3:confused3

my 2 grandaughters keep telling me they want them and I have no idea how much they are supposed to be even. I have seen them on comercials, but that is about it, I didn't even know how scarce they are. So does anyone know the average price of them?
