I'm gargling... using my sinus rinse in case its my sinuses....

so Im thinking back when did it all start exactly.. it was at Bunco friday night... and I was having a lovely salad with mixed greens... pears..goat cheese and PINE NUTS.... bit into one nut... and it just tasted nasty... but I just ignored it ...
well I am googling for answers and here I have "PINE NUT MOUTH":rotfl2: I kid u not.... It actually exists.... can last up to a month...:scared1:

Wow. That's bizarre. Was it the first time you'd ever had pine nuts?

YES! Same thing happened to my husband and me when we had pine nuts in a salad while on a cruise.

Just a nasty bitter taste in our mouths that never went away and seemed worse when eating. Didn't know what it was. Would have been more freaked out if it wasn't happening to both of us. Would have thought it was a medical condition instead.

Googled it when we were home and the taste persisted. FINALLY figured out it was the pine nuts we ate. We now NEVER eat pine nuts. Lol.

Apparently, it may be due to the chemicals that are sprayed on pine nuts in certain countries. I'm sure about China. There are a few countries where pine nuts are imported from that don't use this chemical. Others use this chemical and it is believed that certain people are allergic or have a reaction to it.

And yes, the taste lingered FOREVER. A month seems about right. Made everything we ate taste bitter and just made eating a chore. Too bad we ate the pine nuts at the beginning of the cruise instead of the end because eating is a BIG part of the cruise experience. :rolleyes1

The metallic bitter taste didn't seem so bad when not eating at least.

I know that for people that LOVE pine nuts, they can try to avoid eating pine nuts imported from certain countries. Not sure if this chemical reaction only affects certain people or if it was a reaction to a bad batch or eating it with something else.

We like pine nuts but would never take that chance again. So, from now on we avoid it altogether!

well i will look at the bright side... maybe I'll loose some weight this month... cause even though I am really hungry right now the thought of eating is really unappetizing.... even my diet coke and coffee taste nasty...
