OMG...What Would YOU Do?

The house we put an offer on (still working out the pesky inspection stuff ;) ) the first owner's wife died. I haven't had the guts to ask if she died in the house. My dh told me I could NOT ask! LOL! I really hope she didn't! Oh, this is small town Nebraska btw, and it is NOT CHEAP! We won't be far from the city though, thank God!!

Well if you dont want to ask you could always do this.. search for her obituary. Sometimes they'll say died unexpectedly at home, or died at so and so hospital after a long battle with illness. At least sometimes they do with me.. this is how I found out our owner died here.. then I asked the neighbor for more info of course by then we'd already bought the house and had lived here for at least a year. :rolleyes1

I tried to do a search and I can't find the original owner's name. It's not listed on the county assessor's website. I could have sworn it was but it's not. I do know he was a judge and the neighbors all know him, so I can find out eventually. Curiosity is killing me, but I guess I'll have to wait.

I thought I would never leave the city, it was hard to get used to but I love that our kid is safe playing outside w/ his friends.
I know it is hard to pick up and leave sometimes but what she discribes is crazy expensive! I would think she could afford to move if she is paying that much. I also realize it can be hard to leave family, I used to visit my folks once a week and now we visit once a month.
If your dad needs your care maybe you could take him w/ you? Small town life is so much better.:thumbsup2

Seriously? Everything is relative. I'd rather be tarred and feathered than ever live in a small town again.

OP...glad you're taking the deal and even happier that you're getting a trip to Disney this summer. Enjoy both!

Low housing prices or not, I'm not moving to Iowa.:rotfl2:

the former owner of my house died in the room I'm in now.. I dont know how he died.. I know he was here for at least 2 days before they found him but nothing "funny" happens here. Would it bother me? I would have to say no :) Oh and I do believe in ghosts.. thankfully the former owner has decided not to visit us :rotfl:

Oh and my mortgage payment is less than 350$ a month 4bed/2bath with a yard :thumbsup2 Taxes are less than 400$ a year... ::yes::

want a new neighbor?:woohoo:

I would TOTALLY take the apartment. Who cares that a pill/booze suidice took place there? I am assuming the person was not left there indefinitely so there is no stench/decomp stains, right?

What is in Iowa anyway? What type of industries? :confused3 Corn?

Did I mention (nope I forgot, also forgot my mortgage payment includes our taxes and our house insurance... with out those it would be about 275$ a month :rotfl: ) our taxes are going DOWN this summer because of the casino revenues.

I would definitely move into the apartment. Just be at ease with the situation.

First home I moved into after I got married, a man was killed by his wife's lover in the front porch...(next door to my parents house...I was probably 6yrs when this happened).

We moved to a new house about 5yrs ago. An elderly couple passed away and their children sold the house. Yes, they died inside the house...how or exactly what room?? don't know and DO NOT want to know either.

I'm with you on this one :thumbsup2

OP glad to hear it is working out. I would have taken it also.

And then right after I moved in, I would invite all my friends over and pull out the old Ouigi board. I'm not sure if that is how you spell it, but remember that game. Everyone puts their hand on the triangle piece in the middle and then someone asks a question and the spirits are supposed to move the triangle. Make some margaritas, turn out all the lights except one candle, and it could make for a very interesting eveing :rotfl2:
