OMG! Tried to upgrade to Poly

for our anniversary trip in Sept (we are staying at CSR) and it would be an extra $1700 for ur 7 day trip and thats just in a garden view room

That actually would double our package price! Im so dissapointed I have always wanted to stay at the Poly since I was a little girl! Dh said I could book the upgrade( he is so sweet) but I cant justify that cost at this time

Oh well I guess I will have to wait a few more years..Im grateful I get to go this yr with FD and stay at CSR..but Im still soooo dissapointed..

You need to price it out with the room only code (40% for deluxe rooms), then add tickets and dining plan. The room code is generally a better discount than the free dining when staying deluxe.
Go right to the WDW website, click on specials and price it out for yourself!

As the pp mentioned book the room only with 40% off, you can even do what we are doing this year to save a bit of money, we are staying 5 nights 6 days, early flight day of arrival (6:30am) which gives us a full day in Disney, and late flight on day of Departure (7:45pm) which will give us another day all for only the cost of 5 nights. When you are talking a deluxe resort that one nights room rate 6nights/7days vs 7nights/8days can pay for your airline ticket.

ITA with looking into the room only discount for the Poly. You can add on the dining plan if you wanted, or pay OOP to eat, but the room only discount is FAR better than free dining when you stay deluxe.

We could either do a Poly TPV or Poly CL Garden View room for the same price ($2,040 for 6 nights), rack rate was $3,400. Even if we added in the dining plan for 5 of us we still come under paying rack rate for the room. But since we decided on CL, we'll use that for a quick bite for breakfast, and can dine OOP easily for under what the DP would cost us (we have AP's and a TiW card which also helps).

Take a look again and price it both ways and hopefully the numbers may look a little better.

Yep, if you really want the Poly, book room-only with the 40% discount. Add the dining plan if you want it. I'm assuming from your post that it is just you and your DH, so you will get a better discount if you book room only.

We love the Poly, but we also love CSR. Having stayed multiple times at each resort, I wouldn't pay $1700 more for seven nights at the Poly. But I do love to stay there and hope you get your wish. I think you'll have a great time at CSR if that is where you end up!

I think checking out the 40% off code is a great idea.

But if that doesn't work out, maybe just do a split stay and stay at the Poly for the last evening? You could get 2 days worth of the Poly with a 1 night stay? Or maybe just your anniversary night, if it happens to fall when you are there.

the 40% off discount is MUCH MUCH MUCH better for the Poly. It was going to save us $171 per night on a Garden view room. The free dining is worth $84 per day for you and your dh. You would save over $6oo more by switching to the 40% off discount.

so, still a difference of $1100. But with deluxes, the % off room is almost always better than free dining if you have only 2 adults (or even 2 adults and 2 kids)

Our favorite resort is AKL. We are always looking for a chance to stay there. W/ the 40% off code we can this trip. We have upgraded to the DXDDP as well and are still saving $ over the free dining plan. Hope it works for you.

Yay for you!! that is fantastic! aren't the disboards the best? I would have never been able to stay at my dream resort (Grand Floridian) without the discounts I learned about here!

Congratulations! That's a great deal. Although we no longer stay at the Poly (as you know we always stay at the CSR now), we absolutely love the Poly -- we have some great memories there.

Have fun and enjoy the Poly!! We used the 40% code in January to stay there (I, too, had always wanted to try the Poly ) and it was a FANTASTIC deal. We absolutely loved our stay; even with 5 people in a room we never felt crowded. My boys are now in love with Poly; we're taking them on a surprise trip for Star Wars Weekends and staying at CBR, and I upgraded to a pirate room to distract them from not being at Poly. Of course, I could pitch a tent in a parking lot and we'd all still be thrilled to be at WDW.
