Well, I made it to the Grand Floridian-

Saturday morning, May 1, 2004:

I woke up ready to go, unfortunately my flight doesn't leave until
8pm tonight! What to do, what to do??? So I went to work---
intending to finish up before I leave. Yeah right! Computers are
down, email is down-now what? So I went home---
went through my suitcase, again...everything there? Seems so.

Putter in the yard, spend time with my DD and DS,
call the husband-he's at work in Philly, by the way...
he's coming back to NJ at 4 to take me back to Philly
for 6pm check in...Yes, I am the idiot who listens when they
say to check in 2 hours early!

DH finally comes home, Yay!

It takes 45 minutes to get back to the city and we're stopping at
Tony Luke's Cheesesteaks for dinner, another yay! So we leave...

It seemed I had packed very well, until my husband asks me if I
remembered the charger to my cell phone, Oops! So we turn
around to get my charger-cell phones are quite useless without
the charger!

So we leave, again...

Tony Luke's Cheesesteaks are awesome, but the line to get one
is horrid-especially when everyone going to the Phillies game
tonight had the same idea, oh well. With dinner done we head to
the airport. DH isn't too happy about the line of traffic he's going
to have to deal with coming out of the airport, another oh well.

DH & DD want to come in to see me off only to find out they
can only go about 100 feet into the airport and have to leave me
there. We also get upstairs and find out check in is downstairs,
so we go back downstairs. No line, I get row 11 choice of window
or aisle, I like the window. We walk back upstairs...
we say our goodbye's and I Love You's and I'm off to security.

As the anal planner, I pack and dress to make it throught security
easily-packing no tweezers or nail clippers, wearing no belts,
earrings or anything metal, so security is a breeze.
My gate is ALL THE WAY AT THE END! Long walk, but a good view.
I get my beverage and seat in front of the window, with my back
to all the empty seats, and read---for 2 whole hours!
When I finally looked around me, all the seats are filled, where
in the world did all these people come from?!?

5 minutes before boarding this lovely family of four shows up,
Mom, Dad, Son and Daughter-Son is having issues-oh no,
here we go! They sit directly behind me, and I hear Mom consoling
the boy, Dad saying leave him alone and the boy is saying-
quite expressively, "I'm Not Going!"
He's crying, hiding his face. Mom's warning him not to get upset,
it seems he has asthma and is working himself into an attack!
These people are getting on my plane!!!
Mom takes the boy to the airline attendants to ask for their help-
after 10 minutes of consoling doesn't work, he is now sitting
on the floor, hugging his knees, hiding his face-and is still
"NOT GOING!" So they take him onto the plane before they
let anyone else on...5 minutes later they come out, he seems fine.
Nope-he starts again! "I'm Not Going!" Mom is saying, "you were
fine a minute ago on the plane!"

The attendants start to let us board, infants, the elderly, and the
"problem child" go first. I'm up front, so I'm last to board.

I finally get on board, stow my bags, and find my seat.
The plane is absolutley full! Except for the seat next to me,
it is actually the only empty seat on board that night-
a little pixie dust there-when I look around, there are alot
of families on board-all very well behaved, I didn't even hear
anything from the first family. When we got over Altanta there
was a lightning storm in the clouds...an awesome sight!

When we finally land, the attendants make an announcement
praising the problem child and his sister for doing soooo well
on there first airplane ride, and got applauded. Another boy
chimed in with, "hey, it's my first flight too!" So he got his
applause too...

Again, as the anal planner, I packed only carry on's. So I grabbed
my bags and headed to Mears. Mears is a new experience for me,
I had an idea of what to expect-with a little direction, I finally
found the counter. Paid for my round trip and headed to the
curb. To wait, and wait, and wait...people watching keeps me
occupied quite well. After about the first ten minutes, I see a
familiar face, it's the Mom! With her family, a cart of 25 bags,
and a very eager and happy little boy. I guess he's ok with
flying now...ya think?

We landed around 10:30 pm, I was still sitting at the Mears
counter at 11:30! As I watched yet another van get loaded,
I heard the driver ask about the 1 going to the GF-please,
oh please, take me! He says if I don't mind taking a trip to
all points of Orlando first he'd take me. I ask what my options
are and they say this is my best option that late at night.
So I go. We, indeed, drove to all points of Orlando before
I got to the hotel! We pulled up around 12:30. I called my
friend, to make sure she was still awake, she had to let me in.
She met me in the lobby, and I go to check in...

"What do you mean you can't sell me an UPH?!?!"

great report

one flaw though...shoulda ordered the italian pork at tony lukes.....best sandwich *EVER*

I dont know why there were lines there before the phils game since they know have a stand INSIDE the ballpark

That's my hubbies favorite, I loooove my cheesteak
w/ fried onions and peppers!

I hear the one in the stadium is not quite the same as the
original- but the line is just as long...
