I just cannot believe it! I checked again today and the price for my 12 day reservation (Aug 25 - Sept 6) just went down again! The new price, with Thrifty, using the WMRT code, is now $195, including all taxes! The cost is less than $17/per day. I am thrilled with this price. It was originally $235 for the 12 days, and I was even thrilled with that. Here's to hoping that it continues to go down.
Hope everyone else is having the same luck I am.

I checked my Alamo reservation, and it went down too. From $166 to $155 base rate.

This reservation started out at $214 base and is now at $155 base!!!!!

Dang!!!!

I am in a quandry, should I keep my Alamo ressie for 142.89 for 8 days (all fees and stuff) or should I use the National for the same time period same size at 228.31. I can avoid the lines this way.
what do you think?

Wow! That's a great price.
As for your question....Are you the type of person who gets really anxious and impatient in lines, or are you able to just wait? Personally, I would wait and use the $80 I saved for a nice dinner, or a souvenir that I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise.
But, that's just MHO.

Nope, not nervous in lines (would not be going to Disney if I were. :) ). Just have heard reports of how bad the lines can be.
I appreciate your opinion, btw. Thank you.
The rates keep dropping and I keep on rebooking. Saved a bunch so far.

We rented from Alamo at MCO in May and there was only one person in line ahead of us!! It was a pleasure!! All depends what time of day you hit it...

There are nearly as many lines at National as there are at Alamo. Plus, don't Alamo and National share counter space at MCO now? They share drop-offs at MCO I know, and they share counters at many airports these days. (Gail Hayden could have helped us here; I miss Gail :sad2:)

Of course another reason to go with Alamo is access to the prized 3 day PHP (3 parks days and one Plus), whcih dovetials nicely with the 4 day PHs they sell cheap thru AAA for a reasonable length trip. Of course our frind ChisJo in Edmonchuk will likely do the AP, like us. We got the 3 day PHP for friends who are coming with us in Nov, tho they will likely only use 2 park days, leaving us with a park day and a Plus for another visit or visitor.

Some people prefer National and will pay a bit more for it because they can bypass the counter line.

I would pay a bit more to stay with National and bypass the counter and pick my car.

Alamo are sister companies and do have counters right next to each other and their lots are right next to each other but there is no way to bypass the counter with Alamo.

I would go with Alamo though with that big a price difference!!!

I currently have a reseravtion with Alamo and it is considerably lower than National. In my opinion, take the lower quote from Alamo.

re alamo rental

what are your dates?

and

what codes/coupons are you using?

we are going in september and national's rates seem "higher" than usual lately, would like to check out alamo if they are offering good rates like that since they share facilities and are onsite, the only thing we would be missing is the "bypass" counter

with an alamo rate like that we could do a "nice dinner" some place for the difference

They fell again, not a lot, but a few bucks here and there is nice.
Pays the tolls.
We are going the first part of next month. We have two cars booked, we have a bunch of people going. One full size for 8 days- 139.70 total. used Sam's Club then modified it using BJ's.
20.00 off coupon. It would not take the reservation using the BJ's from the get go, so I used the Sam's 371630 and coupon d47b.
The modification was done using BJ's 489304 d65b.
Made the second one, full size 10 days using the Sam's Club info already given and have a rate of 178.96 total.
I am a member of both clubs.
Made ressies also for a couple that will be coming down later that week and used bj's 308293 and d82b. Their car is an intermediate 11 days, 199.17 total.
By the way, the coupon code is BY for all the ressies.

We also managed to get the QS PITA issue with using coupons and corporate codes fixed. Call the QS hotline and have the corporate code removed. Now, we don't have to worry about standing in line forever. We can use the QS line.
