On my way home, there are several lights and/or turns that I have to make. One is a right at the light at the corner of ABC and XYZ. It's slightly drizzly out and foggy today, so the roads are a wee bit slick, but nothing major. I pull up to the red light at ABC and XYZ and sit, waiting for oncoming traffic to break so I can make my right. Anyway, I wait and wait and finally, there is a break in traffic, so I turn right. Shortly after I turn right, I notice this blue pickup on my tail, but think nothing of it. When he continues to follow me down the route I normally take to get home, I kind of wonder but I'm still thinking nothing of it. He could be, after all, heading into city proper for all I know. Or points beyond.

Anyway..the guy continues to follow me, right into our subdivision, which I think is wierd but hey,he could live in our subdivision or one of the neighboring ones behind and to the left of us for all I know. I turn on the street that dead ends into my street and he's still behind me which starts to creep me out. I go past my house and he is still with me, which causes me to start freaking out a bit. After about ten minutes of driving round the neighborhood, Blue Pickup guy is still on my butt and I'm really scared. I don't know what else to do except go home, so I pull into my driveway, put the car in park, yank up on the parking break and lock the doors. The windows are already all the way up and I turn off the radio, watching Blue Pickup guy sitting in his truck at the bottom of my driveway. Right about then, I'm wishing I had a cellphone or some pepper spray or something because the guy is just sitting there, staring at me from his truck. My heart was racing about a zillion miles an hour and I don't know what to do.

Finally, after about five minutes or so, the guy gets out of his truck and comes storming up my driveway (a difficult feat even when it's not raining because of the angle). I pray he slips and falls down into the gutter at the bottom near the sidewalk but nothing happens and he bangs on my window. I kind of meep softly to myself and roll down the window about a half inch, maybe less. That's when Blue Pickup guy starts going off on me, screaming that I rolled right on through the red at ABC/XYZ and that I should be more aware of the road conditions. He says the only reason I still HAVE a car is because he has ABS or something and that I should be more aware of my driving.

I was absolutely terrified. I kinda mumbled "I'm sorry" a few times and rolled the window back up,shaking like a leaf. I waited until Blue Pick up guy had driven around the corner and out of sight before I got out of the car and ran inside, shaking all over.

I've heard of road rage, but never really experienced it till now. What a scary thing to experience. I hope I never have to go through something like that again.

I guess Blue Pickup Guy felt justified in yelling at me because he thought I was some stupid high school kid driving Mommy and Daddy's car. I have been told in the past that I look like a HS senior, instead of somebody 2 1/2 years shy of 30.

How scary for you! That guy needs to remember that there is no such thing as a perfect driver, and drivers do make mistakes!

Were you able to get a license # or anything? What a horrible thing for that guy to do to you!

OMG! Blue Pickup Guy sounds like a FREAK! :scared:

Glad you are OK!

He drove off before I could write his number down. I was too afraid to get out of my car while he was still near my driveway. When I pulled up, he was obviously waiting for ME to get out and come down to HIM, which I wasn't about to do. :scared:

Wow, I am so sorry for you. I can't believe you had to go through something like that. Road rage is everywhere and is something that we all need to remember. Hope your heart has slowed down a bit!

It has, thanks JiminyC. :)

I'm about to speed it back up though because I'm going to log off now and go do my "Sit to be fit" work out. Yes..it's a real work out. The show is on PBS at like 5:30 AM every morning and I TiVo it. :cool1:

If this happens again, do not drive home. Drive to the nearest police station if possible or at least to a public place. Do not let them know where you live!!!!

Glad he went away without much incident.

Yikes--how very scary! Hopefully if you are ever in a situation like that again you will have the good sense to NOT go home. Go to a public place. Obviously a police station is THE place to go, if you know of a close one.

How could he say that you rolled through the red light when you'd been waiting for a break in traffic? Obviously he was there and you must not have seen him, but you sure didn't roll through the light. Crazy man!

Now that I think of it, I SHOULD'VE gone to the police station, which isn't far from my house. But I was too terrified at the moment to think properly. I didn't just roll through the light, but since he was behind a couple of cars (which I waited to pass..there was enough space between those cars and his truck for me to pull out), he could've thought I just rolled through the light possibly. I DID see him, but I thought there was enough room for my very smallish car (a Dodge Neon) to pull out and get into traffic.

Guess I was wrong...I don't know. I've only been driving for like 5-6 years now and I don't claim to be an expert driver. Heck, I don't even claim to be a GOOD driver. I just hope and pray I get where I need to go most of the time because driving absolutely TERRIFIES me but I know I don't have a choice, because I have to get to work somehow and DH can't always take me or pick me up.

I am sorry this happened to you. I have told my husband and the young man across the street, that if I ever pull in the driveway and start honking the horn to come outside. That is my signal that I need HELP.

Maybe mister blue pickup guy should be lectured about the advantages of slowing down and learning to share the road with other cars!

Why on earth would you let this weirdo know where you live ?? :lmao: I would of drove around until he obviously lost interest or would of pulled into a PUBLIC lot ...lol glad nothing worse came of it, hopefully he wont stew about it and decide to come back to get revenge  ( you cant be sure about people like that )

NEVER DRIVE HOME....I had something similar happen to me...and I drove strait to the police station when I realized they were following me. Try toget the plate, many states have laws against road rage...people make mistakes, and people have different views about proper distance. Glad you are ok

I wish I could've been able to remember that part. I really do. I was terrified and the only part of 'how to be a safe woman driver' that came back to me was lock the doors and don't open the windows. :faint: The police station really isn't far from my house, maybe five minutes. I should've gone there. I know that now. Next time this happens I will.

And honestly, until he followed me down the street that leads to my street where I live, I wasn't even sure he WAS following me. I was praying that he was just behind me because he was headed in a similar direction as I was. That happens all the time and it doesn't freak me out nearly as much as it used to.

Thta guy really needs to get a life! He followed you because he thought you rolled through the light? If I did that for every person that actually DID roll through, I'd be spending more time chasing people down!

Get a cell phone. I never leave home without it. Too many crazies in the world.

I'm sorry that happened. I had someone start following me once to work when I would be on my way back from lunch (he would wait down the street till I drove by) who would sit at the end of our work driveway. I have no idea why, even called the police and they would do nothing. One day he tried to follow me home, I went to the nearest cell phone store and got a phone.

Try to never let them follow you home! Someone who will do that, who knows what they will do.

Something similar happened to me and DH. We were being followed and harrassed by some people on bikes. DH drove right to the police stattion and pulled up right in front and held the horn down. Every police person that heard it came running out. Glad that your ok. Dont ever leave home without your cell either!

I am going to the police station after work this afternoon to see what they think I should do and I'm going to try and convince DH to get me a prepaid cell for emergencies only. ::yes:: That really scared me to death, although DH didn't seem as concerned as I was for some wierd reason.

Sooooo....Was he wrong, or DID you make a right turn on red in front of him?

I gotta tell ya, lately I have had tons of people pull out in front of me, (making a right turn on red), while I have the right of way.

Now, I'm not saying you were right or wrong. BUT, after a guy pulled out in front of me the other day and I had to slam on the brakes and slide sideways to miss him, I honestly felt like following him home to point out his mistake.
