shut itself off! I thought we had a power outage but the lights still worked....the gremlins are at it again! Bizarre!!!!

UHOH...did you get any kind of error after it came back up???? Ours were doing that for a while here and it ended up being the beginnings of a hard drive crash!!!!! GOOD LUCK

Oh no! Scary! Was the computer in anyway hot? I know if they start of overheat, they can shut off. Or did I hear wrong?

My computer rebooted today all by itself earlier while I was on the DIS...couldn't figure out what the heck happened, now I know I'm not the only one...

I'M STAYING AWAY FROM YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p :p :p :p

Come over here and gimme a hug chris...;)

NO WAY....YOU'LL RUB THAT COMPUTER REBOOTING DUST OFF ON ME....NO WAY JOSE!!!!! GET AWAY!!!!

:smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

:p :p that was the first time that ever happened..:p :p

My computer will shut down if it gets too cold. Hasn't happened in a long time.

I guess everything is o.k., I re-booted and nothing seeems different. What was really weird is that the tower shut itself off,the screen went black, but the monitor light that tells you it's on stayed on. I must be on the DIS too much and it overheated:por like nativetxn said, TOO COLD! Now THAT makes sense !
Shep....sorry you have gremlins too.....kinda freaky. Maybe it means we're the next ones to have an all expense paid trip to WDW show up on our screens! ( I wish)

The power supply fan went out and that's exactly what would happen. As soon as it got hot, it would shut down. It was $30 to replace on my computer.

I would agree with Serena. A randomly rebooting computer with no other obvious problems is most likely the power supply. I just replaced my server power supply for this exact reason. It doesn't really even have to have a bad fan - it can just 'go bad'.

A good way to check Serena's thought is to feel on the back of the computer where the power cord connects - that is normally where the fan exhaust is. If you don't feel air flow there, it's time to replace it...

Hmmm Mine runs at 12 degrees Celsius. Others have run at -30 degrees.

Usually the colder it is the better your computer will run.

Only thing I can think of is if condensation formed.

Not many of us have liquid cooled computers. ;)

I know I was just illustrating that cold usually isn't a factor.
