With the food and wine festival, and now the new celebration do you think it will be packed??? We went last year at this time, and the first part of the vacation was great, but the beginning of Oct was very busy! I hope it's not worse this year!

It should be just about the same.

I had switched my dates to the tail end of September - 1st week of October and thank goodness I was able to change them back to Labor Day week! (Long story ... I'm just glad I worked our original days out.)

I was having a very hard time getting ADR's at any of the places we wanted to go ... but since switching back I have had very little problem getting the times I wanted. We also had a hard time getting the dates we wanted at the resort, we were going to have to check out a day earlier than I wanted. But when we called to switch back - no problem.

So yeah ... I do think it will be crowded ... or at least more crowded than I like!

Why?

People can take advantage of the free dining plan if they check in by 9/30 and many have opted to check in the last two days of the promotion! MNSSHP is also running then + the new celebration + the F & W fest.

That is just too many overlapping things for me. Even if only a tiny # of people are swayed by any of the reasons above ... combine them all four together.

That being said ... I don't think it will be as crowded as high attendance times. Stratagic planning can overcome any slight increase in crowd levels.

we were also there last year at the beginning of Oct..last day of meal plan Oct 4th if I recall.

It was busy as we usually go in November.

The southern schools had fall break..there was a thread about that not to long ago. Also if you recall there was Katarina and a lot of conventions booked for New Orleans got changed to Orlando.
I also recall there was a marathon at Animal Kingdom and the Food and Wine Festival that you mentioned.

I'd love to go again in November but silly us we are going again on August 19th.

Yes, the first week of October is busy, some schools have fall break that starts then. Our trip last year was from Sept. 28 to Oct. 3. Parks were empty till Oct.1(Sat.), then they were getting more crowded, until finally Monday MK was packed. Wish we had known. Mind you, I am sure they weren't as bad a summer, but after no waits for most rides and having fastpass machines closed due to no need, to go to 90 minute waits on most rides, it seemed super busy.

I thought fall break was Columbus day week? Columbus day is Oct. 9th this year. Anyone know?

Fall breaks are like Spring Breaks, no set time for all schools. You can have any weekend in October affected and some in Nov.

I actually believe that some people who were going in October moved their trip to September to take advantage of the free dining promotion.

DH and I went last year during free dining for our anniversary from 9/30-10/4 and thought the crowds were extremely managable.

Hope it stays that way! :)

Ya'll are making me nervous..... :scared1:

Were doing just what another poster said, we had planned on going Oct 4th thru the 11th, but switched it to Sept 30- Oct 8th. Mind you I live in Keller TX and our ISD does have fall break (most schools around us do NOT) but it starts Oct 6th and continues until school resumes on Oct 16.

That second half of the vacation were going to the gulf for a week.

I pray its not so busy that it will be not enjoyable. I havent had to much trouble changing my adrs the last week, i've even been able to get some fantasmic package that i canceled. Most schools do not have fall break, but it doesnt help that some do i guess, tho most of them HAVE THEM COINCIDING WITH COLUMBUS DAY(they always have here) which isnt until October 9 (that weekend in the parks will be heavy i think) so hense most fall breaks are Oct 9-13.

How can it be busier than August with free dining where many schools havent started back yet, or June, when everyone wants to go? Columbus day isnt as popular as labor day is it? is it due to the MNSSHP and food and wine only? Fast passes still work?

Lordy i'm getting a tummy ache :( someone tell me it will be ok. My DH has never been to disney and HATES six flags ...to many people he says lol...i think he's screwed.

I've heard say that Mondays are the busiest park days anytime of year .

I love Disney and hate Six Flags too! Tell him it's not the same! Go expecting crowds and know in advance how to handle them. You sound like you've got a game plan in place. You'll convert him and be fine!

I know that Oct 30 -31st will be busy with MNSSHP....but what about Nov 1st to Nov 14th ?

Thank you

Just a bet, but i'd bet the farm that it will be awsome. Most of November until the week of Thanksgiving should be fab.

We are going the first week in OCt. I think that as that week goes on, it will get more and more crowded, because it leads up to Columbus Day and a lot of people have that day off and make a long weekend trip out of it. We are spoiled, we usually go the week after Labor Day which is usualy wonderful crowd wise.

We are just going to go early and leave in the middle of the day if it gets to hot and crowded and go to the pool

I am just so excited to be going, that I think I would take any crowds right now!!!!      :goodvibes

We are planning on doing Universal/Seaworld, and the ocean towards the end of the trip, so hopefully they won't be as busy.

Nursepoo5,
What time is your flight on the 30th? We live in Colleyville, and are heading out on the 30th (evening) and returning home on the 4th. We chose the dates for MNSSHP and the free dining. Realized F&W afterwards and found out about the new celebration after everything was set. Like you, I am hoping it is not too crowded.

That is why I think it will be a little more busy than normal ... a lot of people did that!

Someone also posted that week IS a fall break week for one of the local counties.

However ...

Just plan well and you will do fine. I WILL NOT go to six flags or anywhere like that either ... no comparison!

Get up early - this last trip we didn't and regretted it. Getting to park at opening and getting the heck out at noon ... to come back later around dinner time worked really well for us in the past even over the summer.

Use fast pass!

Have fun!

We're going Sept 30 to Oct 7 because we wanted free dining and t be thee on DD's birthday. I always hope for low crowds!
