Omg i'm nervous! I start a new job monday!!!

It's going to be an Administrative Assistant job at the same college I currently work for. Right now (for the next 3 days lol) I'm a receptionist (among many other things), so this IS a promotion, which is cool. I'll be jumping from the "Administration" side to the "Academic" side, so I think that'll be nice.

I have a hard time with 'change'. I love my current co-workers, but I have to move on. The hours will be the exact same, but I'll be in a different building with all new people. An upside is that I'll have my own office (!!!). Right now, I sit in the middle of a big open lobby, so it'll be nice to have a little more privacy. I'll actually to be able to (gasp) go to the bathroom without asking a student to watch the front door/phone for a minute. So liberating.

Sounds like a great new opportunity. Congratulations on the promotion! You'll do just fine!

Relax! You'll be fine. My DH just started a new job 2 1/2 weeks ago. He had been with the same company for 22 years and then was unemployed for 20 months. It had been long time since he'd had his first day on the job. He seemed a bit nervous on the first morning, but he was fine. He said the people were all very nice, and he ended up liking his new boss even more than he thought he would. It's definitely hard to start over, but sometimes change can be a good thing!

Hello fellow Buckeye!
You will do just fine. Starting a new job can be scary but you at least already work for the company so you have that going for you. Other people who start a new job have it much rougher than you. If can mean driving to a brand new location so they have to think about how to get there. Figure out where to park. Deal with being introduced to a lot of new people.

At least you will know a lot of the people you will pass in the hall, see at the vending machine or sit next to at lunch. You will be working with a new set of coworkers yet you will still get to see your other coworkers.

I know you must being so exciting about the promotion and your mind is going a thousand miles a minute. Go out this weekend buy a new outfit for your first day and relax. I know you will do just fine!
