So it hit me Christmas day. Santa brought DS8 & 6 a game table. It is about 5.5' x 2.5' - air hockey on one side, pool on the other, with a ping pong top (very cool!). Santa delivered it downstairs in the den.

Well DS8 spent most of the day playing pool and listening to his new Jesse McCartney & Hannah Montana CDs. DH & I were a bit freaked out with the realization that this is a hint of what the next ten years will be like!

It was just one of those moments like when we first realized that our "baby" had turned into our "kid" - well now our "kid" seems like a "tween".

At least he still wanted to play pool and air hockey with us!! How long do you think that will last??

I'm not sure how long it will last, but I've got a tween too! :) It really hit me on our Disney trip this past week. She definitely is into different things now and no longer a little kid.

It is hard to believe that my baby will be an official teenager in two years.

Okay, you have to understand that I have the New Year's Blues going on. My boys are 13 and 14 and I have the whole TEEN thing going on here.

They want to do their own stuff, but they still like hanging with their parents--which is very cool. We still do family Scrabble night and movie night. I hope this never ends. I believe it's the way they are raised and what goes around comes around. If you make time for them, they in turn, will make time for you.

The only thing I really, really miss is my hearing my youngest say "pick me up." When I feel down, he still says it, but now it makes me laugh. He's 3 inches taller than me.

:grouphug: from a mom of an almost 13 year old dd :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have a 9 year old DD who loves to listen to her Hannah Montana/Aly & AJ/Radio Disney Jams CD in her room. She got Bon Bons strawberry lip gloss and That's So Raven perfume in her stocking and she has been putting a couple squirts of her perfume on every morning. ;) That stuff smells awful but she LOVES it.

Used to think I had one, now it's two :lmao: . Both of mine are in the tub now, playing with some awful modelling clay like bath soap I got younger DD, when older one asks me to bring the razor and shave gel (both have been shaving legs for about 8 months now). Well, younger DD come in a few minutes ago telling me we have a medical emergency, older DD cut her leg. I sent paper towel and Band Aid to the bathroom for her. SHe doesn't need mama to band aid her anymore :( They listen to their iPods, watch TV in their rooms, talk on the phone for hours, yep, they're tweens!

I had the same realization about my 7YO (almost 8) DD this week as well. I need a support group between this thread and the one about when girls start wearing training bras.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Well, no training bras in my house...I finally outgrew mine after the first kid! :rotfl: But good golly, I wasn't ready for this yet!

My older boy has always been more independent and has never seemed to NEED us as much as the younger one, even as a toddler. I'm just not ready for him to disappear into the basement until he goes to college.

He has no choice but to play air hockey with me. I was very excited to umm, errr, give them that gift!!!
