OMG I know. The reason I think she shot him is their son died from insulin shock (or something) and she felt Steve was to blame.

And when Jerry's mom came in, DH and I looked at each other and went, "Hey..isn't that George Costanza's mom?"

The baby is probably going to be ok. So Abby can't have any more kids, big deal. But was that REALLY a reason for Luka to go postal and throw the trashcan at the mirror?

No, I think Luka had every reason to go postal. remember, he lost a wife and two children already. having a hysterectomy under those circumstances is harrowing, to say the least, and yes, you have to mourn the children you will never have. and the baby i very ill. anyone would be stressed under the circumstances.

there was no indication alex died.

she checked on Alex, closed the van door, got in, put the key in the ignition, then got out again, walked over to Steve, picked up the gun...if alex was dead, the scene would have played out far differently.

I agree that she killed him to keep her son safe, so that maniac can't come back in the future to hunt them down.

Also, I think Luka was totally justified in his feelings. I don't think it was Abby's hysterectomy that made him insane, I think it was the whole ordeal-almost dying himself, then having a premature son after a traumatic birth, seeing Abby's condition, and all cause of some idiots going crazy in the ER.

ETA: I just had my own preterm birth in August, almost a general anesthesia c-section cause my son's heartrate kept dropping, and had a lot of trouble controlling the bleeding afterwards and I would have been devastated with a hysterectomy. And I wasn't also the victim of a senseless crime so I can just imagine how that compund things.

When Sam was walking back towards Steve I was hoping she would shoot him.

It was a great episode and I cried many times. I still can't believe Jerry's Mom. A bit of humor on this episode - which it needed because it was so deep.

Looking forward to Sally Field next week.

As for Luka, it had been a hard day at the office. I'll give him this one. A lot of frustration coming out.

And, yes, having a hysterectomy while having a c/section is quite harrowing. Been in the operating room many times when this happened and a uterus is not something we like to remove in a delivery room. We much prefer removing babies.

Yes, I agree he was sleeping...my thought was she was thinking it and the fact he was sleeping made her mind up...he wouldn't know that she killed the dad while he was sleeping - she could tell the kid she was wrestling with him and got the gun away or something...(of course I'm sure the gunshots would wake the kid up!). Also to keep him away from them...

I agree with the preemies stuff...these docs work WAY TOO HARD! Apart from not being able to date, have sex with, or marry anyone outside of the hospital...the baby's are always preemies! You also forgot about Carter and the late-term miscarriage...

Looks interesting with Sally Field and John Stamos next week. I didn't think Sally Field would return since she has her own 'hot' show starting this season...glad they are following up with their story lines though. You would think Abby's mom would come to the hospital and I would have hated seeing it be someone else since we all know Sally has always played her mom...plus I love Sally Field...I might have to watch one more episode...

I don't think I watched ER at all last year. They kept advertising that Carter would be back, but when did he come back? I loved it tonight, but maybe I just wanted to see something new.

I thought for sure Jerry was going to die because someone always seems to die at the end of the season & I'm pretty sure I saw a commercial with the actor (don't know his name) in a different show. Maybe I'm just crazy & imagined that.
