They're called Celebrity Foods (maybe Celebrity Prime in SoCal and other parts of the country). They come out to your house and explain all your options...poultry, beef, fish, shellfish, veggies, soups, pre-made foods, desserts, dry goods, some staples, etc. I admit they're a little pricy, but well worth it! Most of their food is not organic but it is hormone free, antibiotic free, animals are concsciensiously raised, etc. More expensive than Von's, but less than Whole Foods. We have an upright deep freezer, so they only deliver to us twice a year. I don't know about other delivery options. We have a monthly payment plan but there are different ways to pay.
I only have 3 complaints (if you can call them that):
1. They don't give you a price list for you to take to the grocery store for comparison shopping...ven after you're a regular customer. But they will tell you how much something is. You just have to write it down yourself.
2. The business office is run very much like a mom-and-pop-shop, but not in a good way. We've been customers for 2.5 yrs and always done auto-pay. But every time we have a new order we have to call and remind them to charge us, otherwise they start calling us saying we're behind on our payments.
3. They come out to your house every time you want to re-order because they're trying to sell you other things like knives, freezers, pots/pans, etc. We bought a freezer when our old one died and have the knives. Love both but probably paid too much. They do give us a discount on our food orders since we bought other things.
We put up with it all b/c the food is so outstanding...and if we don't like something they give us full credit on our next order! I got some of their gnocchi (I think). When the guy came out to take our next order he asked me how I liked it. I said it was ok but not good enough to re-order. So he gave me a credit! He said anything that wasn't worth re-oderinging meant it wasn't good enough to sell!
Here's their website: http://celebrityfoods.com/ I think I get some free steaks if you say I referred you![]()
Ahhh....they were at our house last week. They initially dropped off some free frozen food for us to try (who turns down free food, right?) So we did, and I must say...the chicken breast were the most amazingly juicy tastiest chicken breast Ive ever had. And I eat ALOT of chicken breast.
They guy came, gave his schpeal and I liked it. No high-pressure what so ever.
What I did NOT like, in addition to your "not having things individually priced", is that you had to order it in 6 month quantities, no less. Ummm, I have a hard enough time trying to plan dinner the next night, let alone 6 months in advance.
My second concern is that if you can't fork over the $1500+ upfront, your essentially "financing" your food over the course of six months. And yes, he informed me they do pull your credit and you will be charged interest. Makes me a little uneasy.
Aside from those things, I was pleased with the presentation (and I consider myself a pretty skeptical person when it comes to this stuff).
As much as I would have loved to jump on board, I ended up sleeping on it and decided to pass it up...afterall...I have a trip to pay for first.
