OMG!Angry Cast Memembers and Picketers

Ok, I posted this on another site, and wondered what other opinions may be. I stayed at the PPH on June 22nd-27th and awoke the first morning at 6am to Loud horns, pots and pans banging. And to make matters worse, my 6 year old informed me that Cinderella had a sign and was waving it and yelling at the cars going by! Are you kidding me I thought!? Has anyone else heard anything new about this? I am going back with some family from out of town for a 2 day stint in the first week of August. Dont want to give them a bad taste of my Happy Place

All I know is that they have been out there or the last few days. I don't know if it has been since you were here or if they just started again. It has been on the news the last couple of days. Hopefully they stop before you come back.

Oh yeah, I read that on the other board so I tried checking around. I didn't hear of anything for my upcoming trip in August but who knows. BTW- That would have peaved me as well.

Wow I had a hard time finding it. Disney strike There not striking they are protesting. But they are being noisy.

well i have to say i guess they have the right but idk if i would be pleased. I hope its over soon and things go back to normal sorry they might not be getting paid or soemthing what they want..every one is having trouble now adays

If a CM dressed as Cinderella was out with the strikers, she could be in danger of losing her job since that's definitely not in line with Disney's image. I'm not saying that the CM has no right to protest, but doing it in a Cinderella costume is not a smart idea and could be grounds for termination.

Honestly this would piss me off more than anything. I would be really mad about being woken up early on a vacation, but having to explain to a kid who still believes those are the actual character and that you brought in part to see their favorite characters what that is all about would be the worst.

I was there about a week ago and they were protesting.They had drums and horns and it was only 7 in the morning.I didn't know what they were protesting and I thought it was odd.

I guess I'm glad we aren't staying on site this time. In fact, we will be about 2 miles away in Garden Grove. The news blurb said they were banging around at 6am. That doesn't sound like good way to get public support on their side. On the other hand, If I wasn't up by 6am to go to Disneyland I'd kick myself!

Also, looked at the slide show at the OC Register and one lady was wearing a Wicked Witch costume from SW. And another was wearing a mini mouse skirt and ears. So it does seem that some are dressing up. Hope this gets resolved soon!

Looks like they have been trying to negotiate a contract for months now. If they haven't made any progress in 6 months then I'm not holding my breath for them to settle by my trip there in 2 months. All the more reason to get a Theme Park View so you don't have to look out your window and see these fools!

Oh and another thing, these people are the housekeeping and hotel cooking staff. If you are mad and want to get your point across, leave a note for your housekeeping people at the end of your trip informing them that you, will not be, and have not been tipping them because of the discourteous noise they have been making at 6 in the morning! Feel free to spread the advice to your neighbors as well!

FWIW, when we stayed at PPH in September, we were woken up at 7am by the construction on the Villas for GC DVC.

Wonder who dressed up as Cinderella? Sounds like it could be dangerous (job-keeping-wise) for ANY CM to do that sort of thing...

I agree that wearing costumes and picketing at 6am is a downer, but I might be in the minority here because I would not punish them for doing so. It looks like they took a really tough hit on their health care benefits in January and I hope there are enough people out there noticing/supporting them that they can get something worked out.

One thing I hate more than seeing Cinderella holding a picket sign is knowing that when I see her in the park she is extremely underpaid and now lost her benefits. I know kids don't get that, so I can see where some parents are coming from.

But the article said that it was hotel/hospitality workers. Not characters.

And since the actual costume belongs to Disneyland, it would be really bad if the actual character wore it to protest her employer....



And wait...aren't benefits something that are *agreed upon* by employer and Union groups? Therefore, the Union agreed to anything that happened to benefits, right? So....if they agreed to it 6 months ago, why protest now?
