OMG! I'm 'running' a 10K this weekend!?!?!?!?!

Based on the finishing times from last year, I will finish in the bottom 20 but I will finish and that is the important thing. We ran 7.5 miles last weekend so 6.2 should be a breeze, right?

Races almost always seem shorter than training runs so I think you'll be alright. Good luck.

Good luck this weekend! Let us know how it goes :)

My Dr. put me on prednisone for swelling, and PT for 6-8 weeks. Told me to listen to my body when it comes to running. The prednisone hasn't helped with the swelling (that I can tell) but if I make sure I take walk breaks it helps alot. I cannot run and only run. I need to walk often to allow recovery time. We will see what happens with PT and go from there. I don't have my first PT until Monday. R/W is a godsend though! I will decide what to do, if anything, after the half. Nothing invasive will be done until after then.

Oh, I also haven't been pressure tested to confirm CESC yet either. The Dr. said that the test is painful and wants to wait to see how the PT and prednisone works. There's still a chance it isn't CS but I am still pretty sure it is. Someday I will figure out what the heck is wrong with my legs! lol

For now though, I am able to slog along and complete my mileage so that is all that matters right now. The good thing is that if it is CS I can't do any more harm by running.

Good luck on the 10K. I don't know how big your field will be but in my first, and so far only 10K finish was 1320/1469.

My first 10k (and first race ever!) is on Sunday- eeek! Where is yours? I'm planning to do 2/1 run/walk (what I've done on long runs thus far) so I figure it can't go that bad. I've done up to 8 miles in training so at least I have the mileage in. When the going gets tough I'm gonna motivate myself through the wish quote- Dead Last Finish is better than Did Not Finish, which greatly trumps Did Not Start. I'm normally a night runner so this whole 7:30 am thing should be interesting... I'm hoping the excitement will keep me going! Any last minute tips from those more experienced? Good luck OP and let us know how it goes.

Fall08, I am running in the Veteran's Day 10K in DC. What are you running?

Rewarding my finish with a trip to IKEA! :thumbsup2

Good Luck to you! I am also running my first 10K tomorrow, and am extremely nervous! According to last years results, I should finish somewhere in the last 1/4 of runners. I have only run 5 miles once, last weekend. What's another mile, right? I run a 1 min run/1 min walk with about a 12:30 pace.

Here's to finding the finish line, upright and ahead of the police escort!!:worship:

That sounds like a fun one! I'm doing Founders Day 10k in Celebration, FL. There's a 5k, 10k, or 15k option. My 1/2 training plan has me for a 10k this weekend so it worked out perfectly! GOOD LUCK all

This is the 10K I did this morning :-) It was a beautiful morning for a run!

Perfect day for a race.

My goal time was 1:15 and my chip time was 1:08 :cheer2:

I did galloway 2/1. In training I've been doing 11:30 mm run/15:00 mm walk so I must have really picked it up today! I reallllllly wanted to do the 5k after but I didn't have anyone to run with and I'd already gone through my playlist twice :lmao:
