Omaha Steaks?

I find that Omaha steaks are pretty salty
Maybe I'm the only one... :confused3

It's my opinion that they use a special brine to help
give their steaks that tender texture so many people just rave over.

Anyone else ever notice that you don't need to use salt to season
your Omaha steaks much (or at all)?

Reminds me of the steaks at Applebees
and their sirloin steaks price out about the same...
only at Applebees you get some really salty side dishes too :rotfl::upsidedow

$23? $25? $27 per pound for steak? No thank you!

I couldn't find anywhere on the site that tells where the beef is coming from. Probably out of the country and brined as someone up there said, then packaged all pretty with the self-proclaimed "Gourmet" put on it and people flock all over it.

If we bought (we raise our own) we would buy from a local butcher that we know grass feeds and rotationally grazes for about $3 per pound. I think the same butcher cuts our own (I'm not the one paying) for $0.50/pound or something.

Many people have no idea what real, flavorful, home grown beef tastes like... :sad2:
When given a gift card, what else can a person do? :confused3

That being said, there are 4-H youth livestock shows in just about
every state in the nation, selling beef on the hoof,
raised responsibly by American farm kids :cheer2:

The cost is usually around $1.80/lb. on the hoof, and if you do your homework
and build a working relationship with your local or regional Ag agent
or 4-H agent, they can usually help team you up with a couple other families
so that you can buy 1/4 of a beef- the very best tasting beef you'll ever put in your mouth. :goodvibes :yay:

And you will know where it was raised (here in the good ole' USA)
and who raised it and how it was raised. :thumbsup2

I've ordered the promo before and my brother loved the gift. Right now, they have a grilling package on the website TravelZoo for $39!! Sounds like a good deal :)

OP here, just thought I'd post a review.

We ended up ordering 12 (6 oz) bacon-wrapped filets. The total cost was $99.99, they were offering free shipping. I attempted to place the order with ebates to earn the 6% cashback bonus. I found out the free shipping was not available with Ebates, so I opted to order directly through Omaha. The shipping charges would have been $19.99 :crazy2:

The steaks arrived in a thick styrofoam cooler. The cooler contained dry ice. I was a little concerned they would thaw during shipping but they were frozen solid when they arrived.

So far we've had them for dinner twice and have been very pleased with the quality. They don't have a processed taste and they didn't lose any flavor from being frozen.

I haven't been bothered by any telemarketing calls.

I would consider buying from them again.:thumbsup2

If you order beef from a catalog you gotta try Allen Brothers USDA prime steaks . You will be spoiled forever! I could go to Disney on what I buy from them every year.

Thanks for your quick response!

So, I should order the hamburgers and give them the phone number of someone I don't like? ;)

Seriously, I think we do have a call block feature on our phone, I'll have to look into that.

:flower3:Thanks again.

Why bother even giving your phone number use your area code and 123-4567. :thumbsup2
