Went to the Olympic Trials this morning. What a great day for a marathon. Well, Maybe of temps were 5F warmer, perfect. Clear with very little wind and temps in the mid 30's.

The course is a modified 3 loop course with the 'modification' being a 2.2 mile loop at the start. Took lots of photos. The guys were splintering in the first 2.2 miles while the women were in a tough single group still. As they passes for mile 9, the races had spread out. Even more so at mile 16. No spoiler here, watch NBC at 3pm EST for the race.

Oh, for those who run and worry about the sweeper.... Several runners road in on the sag wagon.

Watched them, and loved it. Nothing like watching the pros run to inspire you to do more speed work, and wish you could have their legs and stride for just one race.

Coach, do you know what the qualifying times were to be able to run? There were a lot of women running.

Yeah, Desi! The locally trained (Hanson's) woman came in 2nd. Glad to see her on the team. Should be good.

I can run a half that fast. Actually I can run a half faster than the winner.:rotfl:

Thanks for this post Coach, I enjoyed watching. Boy are they impressive. I sure felt badly for the 4th place finishers. :(

I went to the '08 trials in New York and Boston and those two days still rank high on my list of running highlights.

After the Women's race in Boston, my wife and I were casually walking around Boston and saw a runner being consoled by her boyfriend. She was complaining about how poorly she ran. After some investigation I found it was Desiree Davilla. I became a fan from that point. Last week I saw her in MK after the half and almost peed my pants. Not really but I did think it was pretty cool. Needless to say, I was happy that she qualified.

Desiree had a ton of supporters everywhere I turned. I really was shocked to see she fell off the lead. Glad to see all who qualified make it.
