Olympic Opening Ceremony Uniform USA

Yeah, they're not great. It looks like graffiti on the side of a HBS store.
Well, since The Bay is the sponsor, maybe that's where they got the inspiration. :rotfl2:And if by "not great" you mean totally frickin' hideous, then yes, I agree they are not great. In fairness though, I do give full props to anybody who can pull off wearing tight white jeans but a fanny-pack around your neck kind of gilds the lily. ;)

The Polo logo has been ridiculously large, in my opinion anyway, for quite some time.

As a high schooler of the 80's I definitely remember and preferred the smaller more subtle one.

I was going to say the same thing. The last several Olympics, the Polo logo has been very obvious.

Jeans and a blazer...... Sheesh. Serious up top, party on the bottom. The clothing equivalent of a mullet.

HAHAHA look at GB's.

Strength through unity...... sounds like a line from a distopian movie.

And there it is from V for vendetta. Next winter olympics saying, "Remember Remember the 5th of November."

I tell ya I can't make up better stuff.

I hate that almost life size Polo pony. It was much better in the 80s when it was a small subtle logo.
The Hudson's Bay Company logo on ours is big too, it maybe just doesn't seem so obnoxious because nobody but us recognize it? It's the 4-colour horizontal bars on the jacket and tee sleeve and you can see a smaller version on the hip of the pants.

That, and the loaded elitist symbolism of making "the sport of Kings" your corporate logo.

HBC, otoh, feels compelled to remind everyone that they made their money from folks trying to take advantage of indigenous peoples. (By which I mean just trying to get more in return than they were worth; not the biological weapon story.)

I feel like the USOC should provide some nice understated crest patches that athletes can use to cover that blasted polo player after the games.

Do you think they could have made the logo any larger? I know, they're donating the uniforms, but they could be more subtle in their advertising. IMHO.

Polo has lots of clothes with an even bigger one. My kid had one where the logo looked like it was 2 inches high, and that on a 4 year old's clothes.

This is something I see a lot around here:

The classic Polo interlock knit shirt is still available. I think it's still their biggest selling product.

Way back when, the USOC choose Roots because they saw what Canada was wearing and wanted in on the action. It was really strange too since the Canadian Olympic Committee switched, but the US still wore them.

This was 2002:

Just FYI but the "sport of kings" is horse racing, not polo.
