I know olive oil is supposed to be healthy, but I just don't like the taste of it. Which I don't get since I love olives, but prefer black olives over green olives.

I saw somewhere that an executive from StarBucks was in Italy and went to some olive fields where they were putting the olive oil in their coffee.

Reminds me of a gallbladder ultrasound I had in December where I had to drink a high protein shake to which the tech added a tablespoon of Wesson oil. And then scanned again to look at the gall bladder function.

I would not volunteer to do that again.

How is olive oil any worse than Coffee Mate????

CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (COCONUT AND/OR PALM KERNEL AND/OR SOYBEAN), SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE)**, 2% OR LESS OF DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM ALUMINOSILICATE, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, ANNATTO COLOR.

Why can't they just use milk, cream, and pineapples?

Well, because you can make it from shelf stable bags of powder that way. It's also non-dairy. I'm not saying that a real pineapple ice cream wouldn't be better, but Dole Whip just isn't that and never has been.

Why not? I often put coconut oil in coffee and have done olive oil tastings. I'll give it a try but for it to work it needs to be high quality olive oil and that is my biggest worry about what Starbucks will be using.

What if you just skip the olive oil and add olives?

If adding olives, why not just skip the coffee and make it a martini?

Another thread solved.

Or one can just have a salad with olive oil dressing and have coffee afterward.

Good Morning America just did a segment on this. YES the oil floated on top. And both the GMA reporter and the hosts' expressions after trying it, makes me want to throw up.

Here is the olive oil in coffee segment on GMA this morning

Yes the current product is just so highly processed. It would be nice if they could move to a product that was not. Would be nice if they made the product fresh on demand.

I have heard of a pat of butter in coffee and I know a lot of people who take a tablespoon of good olive oil every day for their health.

I have said I need to try it. We use extra virgin olive oil at home but I have read to use specific ones. I would have to google the best ones for the daily dose.

If Starbucks uses a high quality one/right one (will they?), why not. I don't buy coffee from Starbucks or Donkun (maybe once or twice a year) so doubt I will give it a try.

No thanks, My coffee fixins are pretty set, and I love my coffee: very strong brew, w half a Splenda/sweetener and a little heavy cream. That's it. I'd try about anything once, but that sounds so crazy!
