We have a no expiration paper ticket that we're planning on using during an upcoming trip to WDW. Is there any reason to (or way to) convert it to a new RFID plastic ticket? Any downfalls of leaving it the way it is?

Thanks much!

I may not know what I am talking about but if you have an entry ticket, it is good for entry. Once you start trying to upgrade/convert/etc., it is only worth the amount of money you paid for it. But verify that.

It's true, but not that simple. From what I've heard, there are few old turnstiles left that will accept these tickets. What I want to know is whether they can be converted. Also, if not, can they still be used in the Fastpass machines?

allears.net says:

How do I go about using the left over day on a really old 1980's five day park hopper? I know I have to transfer it to the currently used media form. My question is can I apply it to another park hopper and get a discount? Or would it be easier just to use the day as is and buy another pass?

Since 2006, you have only one option: ticket media conversion for old pre-1996 passes so you can use up the remaining admissions.

By converting your tickets to the current magnetic strip ticket media, you pay nothing and allow for the ease of use with the new magnetic strip reading turnstiles. Your magnetic strip passes can also be used in the FastPass machines. This allows everyone with any days left on their old WDW tickets to use them. You can convert these passes at any major park ticket booth or Guest Relations window (including water parks) at no charge. Once converted, the new tickets you get will be good at all four Disney Theme Parks.

My ticket is from 2008, so it has a mag stripe. The allears info is old. Really old. The new tickets are RFID / tap enabled and don't only rely on the mag stripe.

Since it is from 2008 just go through the Park turnstile with it. If they cannot read the magnetic stripe information you can go to any Park ticket window and they will replace the ticket with a physically new one with all the history still on it.

We are in WDW now and we came with paper no expire tickets. Going thru the turnstylres at our first park we were directed to a castmember with a hand held device. He scanned us in and told us to get our tickets converted at guest services when we could. They worked just fine in the fastpass machines. We converted them in the evening when we were leaving our first park b/c there was no line at guest services. My husband joined us a few days later. He used his paper ticket in 2 parks, fastpass machines and DQ. It had to be hand scanned at the park entrances. We finally converted it at the outside DQ guest services window. The castmember explained that it is the same old ticket just in a new exterior shell. Hope this info helps.

Perfect - thank you thank you! Have a great trip!
