We just had our vents cleaned, I run a IQ air purifer and we change our furnace filter every month and still have tons of dust.
Any other ideas on what can help with this problem?

Our house is 22 years old and I have the same problem. Our vents are in the ceiling and I have wanted to get them cleaned professionally, but my husband says it will be a waste of money. Are you saying it did not make much of a difference having them cleaned?

Compared to how dusty we were before.....it made a difference, but, not like I was thinking :confused3. I thought we would be pretty much dust free (I know there will always be a small amount).

Our home is over 100 years old, and we have a problem with dust too. I was told to get the vents cleaned but wondered if it would really help

I was skeptical about the duct cleaning but we did it and I think it has helped a bit. If I actually dusted once in awhile it would help too! ;)

I have a horrible dust problem and don't have a warm air furnace if that helps with your decision.

In our old house we took out the carpet and put in wood floors. We had our ducts cleaned after we were done with that and I could go WEEKS without dusting :banana::banana:.

In this house we have carpet again and DUST everywhere. We cleaned our ducts and that does help some. I would say the main culprit is your carpet.

I have carpet on the 2nd floor of my house, but only hardwood on the main level. My whole house is dusty (I have 3 cats, which makes the problem worse), but I do think the upstairs has more dust than the main floor. My house is only 7 years old.

What kind of insulation do you have in your house? Blown in insulation causes more dust.

I saw at HD the other day they have filters that fit over your registers. That might help.

I have 3 people 2 dogs and 3 cats in an 1100 sq ft house. I cant keep up on the dust and dirt, it's insane

blah! how? that stuff is trapped in your attic and your furnace doesn't circulate there. if you have vents in your attic circulating with your living space something is goofed up.

I was going to ask the OP if she had carpet. My whole house is carpeted, we have no hot air vents and my dust is out of control. Before we lived here we had a townhome with hardwood, no hot air vents and I never had a dust problem.

I think the carpet might do it. We put hardwood in this summer & I do not seem to have to dust as much.

This is interesting

We have nothing but hardwood floors (And no throw-rugs, either) yet we also have a lot of dust.

I think the maid (aka me) needs to dust more.

I would also make sure I moisturized and lotion up often and loofa in the shower. A good portion of dust comes from dead skin cells. The less that flakes off, the less dust.
