Older Child with Autism and Jedi Training Academy

Hi. I have a blog and a mom came there yesterday and responsded to a post I had up about Jedi Training Academy and her older autistic son. I didn't know the answer so I though I'd come here.

Would an older child be able to take part in Jedi Training Academy? I'm assuming that he probably wouldn't, but I'm not sure if there's a specific age cut off. If that's the case and he can't do it, can you recommend some activities that might take its place? I'm not sure if they have any character meet and greets on non-Star Wars weekends or what other SW activities in the parks that he might enjoy. Also, if you have any experience with Star Wars weekends that you can relay, I'd appreciate it.

I have seen teenagers and once a young man get chosen, though it is usually children so I don't know how they might have done this. My advice would be to get there early, get up front, and talk to the cast members there as the time approaches. They will answer if there is a cut off in age, but I would think something like that is probably at the discretion of the cast member doing the selection.

The age cutoff is 12 years (JTA is for kids 4-12 years old).

Thanks. I'll relay what both of you have said. I wonder if the cut-off is official or it's just a guideline? I think I'll try to find some alternatives for him to do. There's got to be something that can take it's place.

It's official. There is a sign next to the stage stating the age limit.
