Old Town Inn in San Diego

Has anyone stayed at the Old Town Inn in San Diego. It get´s excellent reviews, especially compared to the price, so we booked it for april.

Just thought my Disfriends might be able to tell me more...

We've never stayed in that area but we have tried to go to Old Town on friday and saturday nights for dinner - VERY busy. I gave up as I couldn't find a parking space. It is a fun area.

Never stayed there only at mission valley? i think. Oops , i think it was hotel cirfcle actually. Old town was only a 3-5 minute drive form our hotel. We had dinner at a great mexican restaurant. We were seranded by a mariachi band (the kids requested la cucaracha ) and we had a blast. I don't remember the name but there was a large window facing the street where you can watch them make fresh tortillas by hand.

Yummy! Tortillas fresh off the grill. I believe the one you are thinking of is the Old Town Mexican Cafe Restaurant. We love that place. We park at the high school parking lot and walk when we want to go. It's not close by but it's better than turning around and going home. They sometimes charge a small fee to park there. I especially love the Peruvian street vendor. Their jewelry is so pretty! We have never stayed at the Inn though. Sorry.

we usually stay at the best western in old town...........it is a great location , walk to shops dinner , it is my favorite place to stay in SD. Parking can be rough at dinner time so it is great to be able to walk instead. I am sure you will have a great time!

I've never been inside or stayed there, so I can't give you a review of the hotel and its amenities. But, as a local, I can address to the location of where the hotel is. Although it's called The Old Town Inn, it's not really in what is considered "Old Town." It's on the outskirts of the Old Town tourist area, which is on the East Side of the freeway.

Pacific Highway, which is where the hotel is located, is more of what I consider an "industrial area" with businesses and wherehouses and the highway runs right next to and under Interstate 5 (a very, very busy freeway).

Yes, it's close to the The Old Town Trolley Transit Center. The OT Trolley Transit Center is a main hub for a lot of people who carpool to downtown (I've parked there and taken the trolley when I had to report for jury duty), so you'll be near parking lots filled with cars.

I'm afraid that you might be a bit disappointed with the ambiance of the surrounding area of the hotel, but if that doesn't bother you, then consider it. I think there are nicer places to stay in San Diego with all the same amenities and conveniences that The Old Town Inn has to offer without breaking the bank. But that's JMHO.

There's also the Hacienda in Old Town. They have an Acapulco restaurant on the top level. We go there quite a bit whenever we're in the area. I have fond memories of past visits to Old Town. Visiting the Whaley House, eating at Casa De Bandini (which is no longer there), doing a solemn walk within El Campo Santo Cemetery, browsing around the shops of the Old Town Market, and my personal favorite, taking the Ghosts & Gravestones Tour, which is no longer there either.
