Okay, everyone. I've seen some threads from newbies introducing themselves, and they're probably wondering who the heck the rest of us are. So, it's only fair and polite if we warn them .. err, let them know who we are.

I'll go first. My name's Matthew, originally from a small town in NW Georgia but have been living in Richmond for 4 1/2 years. I'm a sales rep for a major carpet manufacturer and married to my fellow moderator Lauri (a.k.a. MeanLaureen). No kids yet, unless you count the Savage Poodles, Lacy, Toby, Suzy, and Reilly.

Lauri and I got hooked on Disney pins when we were in WDW for our honeymoon in November 1999. All I wanted was a pin representing each park to decorate my camera bag strap. Then a CM trainer at AK told us about the Disney pin trading and the lanyards and it went from there.

We found the DIS a few months after we were married while looking for information on Disney pins online. There was a link in a Disney vacation book to www.wdwinfo.com, where we found the message boards.

We're finally learning to concentrate our collections -- she likes the dogs, Dumbo, and Eeyore, I like the Ducks, Chip & Dale, and patriotic pins.

In addition to Disney pins, I'm also a huge Star Wars fan (as if you couldn't tell from my name ;) ) and I love to read and collect comic books (primarily DCs -- Batman, Superman, etc.).

Next? :teeth:

In the beginning Disney made pins in his own image….

My name is Ed I was voted cutest guy on the Dis 2 years in a row. I started pin trading way back when I worked as one of those Imagineer types back in the 80’s at that point it was how pretty, and threw them in a drawer. 15 years later I start giving them to the grandkids as cheap gifts, then the whole pin thing starts and I find out I have given them pins that are now worth about $100 each, and the little monsters wont give them back!!!

I’m kidding girls… Really now go to sleep and quit hiding them.

Okay I live in Florida about 15 minutes away from Disney (eat your hearts out Y’all) I’m a true southerner born in Havana Cuba, moved to Florida in 1969 and liked it so I stayed, I turned redneck in 86 after my first tractor pull convention. I say Y’all and dideatyet a lot I started to get into the pin thing in 2000 after my son-in-law showed me the way. I met so many nice people I stay in the trading thing just for the friendships; you see I’m a social trader not addicted like these folks, I can quit at anytime I have quit 7 times already its easy. :teeth:

I’m VP of Engineering for the Rauland Borg Corp… you see although being a Disney Imagineer sounds really really cool, it pays ditty and I wanted to eat soooooo. Rauland Corp was a lateral move and a win win for me, and them. :teeth:

I named myself Raulandpinboy because of Rauland, and I have used Raulandboy on AOL since version 1 hit the streets so I added pin to Raulandboy and Walla Raulandpinboy… But alas those Connecticut contingency girls and Dom thought it was a father and son pin trading shark team called Raul and Pinboy and I liked it, so it kinda stuck with me.

I love to help people stuck up north by buying extra pins and selling them at cost, but I can’t do that here anymore because it was forbidden on these boards, you have to use the auction boards and they are dead or don’t work anyway so what’s the point right Auction people huh can ya hear me now!!!! Sorry I digress

I love to help out and on occasion if I can, and I will make a pilgrimage to Mecca also known as Down town Disney, and pick up stuff for people like Christmas items, it’s the least I can do since I live did I mention 15 minutes away!!!

I love pintrading not for the pins but for the people, and I hope it will be around for years to come.

My other half is Donna and I’ll let her tell about herself, we got married in 82 after she told me INS would deport me back to Cuba unless I was married to an American girl, of course she did not mention she was a Canadian not an American at the time.

My all time dream is to be deported back to my native home of Australia, I’m 6’.2” weigh 180lbs have a golden tan year-round, and am know to ladies of Orlando as El wappo mucho grande hombre. (Yea like you all tell the truth all the time)
I have a dog called Trevor, and two cats one called Dumpster because I found him in a dumpster, and the other was Mr. Kitty but I have renamed him Tigger because he bounces all over the place.

My turns on’s are women, or ladies, females etc etc, LE’s under 100, and women who are not afraid to admit they were wrong and it was their fault (I’m still looking for one)
My Turn off’s are women who claim its not their fault no matter what (they are everywhere easy to find) LE’s of 5000, Kid sharks that cheat at games to get pins (you know who you are you brat so bite me)

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Lori (also known as Tink). I am married to my high school sweetheart, Walt, we have one very handsome son, Dean (16). We got into the pin collecting on our yearly family trip in december of '99. It started out as a hobby that I could enjoy with my son, since he was at that age when it was un-cool to have anything to do with mom. He went from a lanyard, to a hat, to a vest full of pins by the time the 2 week trip was over. Since then he now tells me he is retired from pin trading, but will come out for for that special pin to add to his collection. Our collection is way over 2000 pins and we have since started to narrow it down to certain pins. I collect Tinker Bell, Aristocats, Figaro and WDW Christmas and a couple that I just really like. My DH collects Steamboat Willie, Dopey and Germany, and Dean collects, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribbean, Buzz Lightyear, Rock-n-Rollercoaster, Indiana Jones, Star Wars. We have made many wonderful friendships with this hobby and cherish all of the great times we have together.

I've been a member of the DIS.....well, since before it was actually "The DIS." I jumped around the other boards (attractions, dining, DVC) for a long time, and then found a "home" here when we began pintrading in the Spring of 2000. (Matt & Lauri tried changing the locks a few times, but I still kept coming back... :smooth: )

My entire family lurks, but I'm the only poster. :p

DH Malcolm ~ EeyoreHisOwnSelf ~ collects, what else, Eeyore pins! His other big interest is imagineering and round pins.

DS#1 Nati ~ UseleSportsGoof ~ collects Goofy only pins. If the Goofster is sharing the pin with another character -- forget it! He will allow Max, but that's as far as he can stretch it! Nati is 16 1/2 and a junior in high school. His only other interest in life is sports. You give him a pin with Goofy in some form of sports motif....and Nati begins to hyperventilate. His all-Goofy pin collection has made him quite well-known.

DS#2 Josh ~ DieHardDonald ~ collects mostly Donald pins. However, unlike his brother, Josh will generously permit Donald to bring along a friend or two now and then. ;) Josh also collects pins from Pirates of the Carribean, and actually has a pretty large non-Disney collection of pins from the Olympics, sports, and places we've visited. Josh is 15 and a freshman in high school. He loves baseball and music. He has a marvelously imitative voice, and can sing just about anything. Josh loves to trade, and has been known to mastermind many a three- or four-way trade, and thereby share the pin karma.

DD Meri ~ Princess Meredyth ~ collects princesses (naturally :D ), Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast. She has quite a few Pooh pins, but I think her interest is shifting away from those. Meri is in the second grade and is 7 and 11/12 (do the math!) today. ;)

I collect full figure pins, especially princesses & princes, Mickeys & Minnies, and Donalds & Daisies. I also collect park/attraction pins. My main goal for this year is to see how many pins and how much framing supplies I can actually amass, without framing a single pin.

I am originally from New York, but have lived in Maryland for over 20 years. We make the 1800 mile round-trip drive to WDW about three times a year. In my real life  I manage corporate projects for a very big bank. Yes, that bank. The only good thing about my job . . . the bank is an international Olympics sponsor. So every now and then, the bank gives me pins! :teeth: (Ok, they're not Disney pins, but still!)

I'll be interested to read other member's responses to this thread. :smooth: Who will tell the truth, and who will gloss over the details?
Will Donna explain the incident involving the girl scout that forced her to leave Canada?
Will Jeff explain why no WDW resort would permit him to host a pin party on their premises?
Will Joy finally admit that she has the most pins of anyone living in one of those "I" states?

Stay tuned for answers to these questions, and more..... :jester:

Why I tell the kids I work with I was born on Mars I have lived in central CT all my life. I am single and not working very hard at not being so.
CheshireGrin.gif

I collect almost anything Villains, Peter Pan, and Nighmare Before X-mas. In pins I also collect as many characters from as many Disney features as possible and seem to have started a Mickey in costume collection.

I am a program director at a local Boys & Girls Club where I teach basic woodworking, art, computers, archery, riflery and coach youth soccer. I am also a part time graphic artist and have designed pins, t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers, etc. I have also designed a few of the logos you see on this and other boards.

Lately I have gotten in to animating and have been making all sorts of animated graphics including most of the bouncing Disney characters you'll also see around this and ohter boards. I have also been teaching this at the Boys and Girls Club where I work. Some of the kids have done some GREAT stuff!!

I have 2 nephews and 3 nieces and a large, close family which is the reason I have not moved elsewhere and tried to get a job in animation.

I found the DIS back in Nov. of 2000 when I decided to make a Villains pin set. I was unhappy with the ones Disney had made and wanted to try my hand at it. I still have not finished it, or several others that I have started, but I will one of these days. At the time I only was looking for a few Villain pins. I wasn't going to be one of those nuts that got up at 3am to get in line for a pin! (been there, done that, and even enjoyed it!) I was also not going to stand in line for a "silly" pin. (been there, done that, too!) I have traded on the hood of a rental car at 4am, traded on garbage cans through out WDW, and met some of the most WONDERFUL people though this hobby, many of which I have come to consider good friends!

Why tell the truth when it is sooo boring......
Okay, first of all despite the best efforts of Robyn, her amazing family, and all my other DIS friends, I do not have the biggest pin collection even for the little state of Idaho that I live in, sorry but there are other collectors here with way more I have seen them. But I a great little fish and I have the biggest collection of pins for someone who does pin chat from the state of Idaho. Yeah I am first at something! I do also admit to being a big whiner and begger of pins although I have not yet whined to that Ed guy because I am afraid he might throw my cell phone in a pond or make me look at speedos!

Okay, let's see what do I tell you about myself. I have been collecting pins since the millenium set in 1999. I started on the trip boards but gradually got hooked on the collections board because I never get to go Disney anymore :(. I am also a regular at pin chat (after all I have to beg for pins). My dh is finally starting to collect pins: characters playing musical instruments, chernabog, army, and space pins. My dd who is growing up way too fast collects eeyore, dogs, and patriotic. I collect pins I like which can be very varied. The characters I really like don't do pins much ie Mulan, Mushu, Ludwig, Nani, and I love Lilo. I work as a receiving clerk but once taught school. I try to be humorous but rarely beat pinboy and the arizonajeff guy at humor. I guess I won't be hosting the oscars anytime soon. I have two dogs and I managed to be the pet owner of gerbils when the kid decided that they weren't fun and cleaning cages was too stinky. Dh often offers to clean the cage permently but it hasn't happened. I like traveling and pins and more pins.

Ok, let's take a shot at this - my name is Caroline - my husband and I both teach, we have 5 daughters - two of whom are graduating from college next weekend in two different states, 1 fantastic 5 year young grandson, and a love of Disney!!!
Started noticing pins on our Feb trip in 2000, attended our first pin meet with Kathi from R.I, and Lisa (Tiggersmom) that same spring and have been hooked since.
We're not huge traders and prefer to buy only what we like, but boy, has what we like, turned into a pretty big collection.
I have also turned our love of Disney into a yearly trip for many of my middle school students, here in western MA ( I teach in an urban middle school), with major fundraising and this year, with the help of many wonderful people, our trip was so fantastic! Thanks to the daily chronicles of Debbie (Epcotkilterfan), many of you were able to be in on her surprise before we were in Orlando.

I welcome many new DIS family members to this board - we have met the most wonderful people here, through pin trading, and pin meets. While pin backs may be lost, and interest may wane, the friendships we have made will continue!!

Hi my name is Lisa and I am a pinaholic - oops sorry wrong meeting.

My name is Lisa(one of many here), I have been collecting everything disney since time began and have the boxes, bins and shelves to prove it.

I live in Mass, by the beach, a dream I realized 5 years ago. I used to have a very quite house with 2 guys, Mike & Geoff. Well thing change I now have a not so quite house with 3 teenagers, long story.

I work for a law enforcement agency in Mass, as a communications supervisor. MY DH is the financial world and my DS who is 18 will be off to college in the fall. My 2 new additions are Cassie, a senior in HS and Mark a junior in HS, who are great kids with lousy parents - but that is another post.

We do Disney a few times a year, just got back from 6 days in WDW, and they had to drag me kicking and screaming all the way home.

I love this board, the people here are great, the fun I have had at meets is immeasurable. So if you are new here - jump in noone will let you drown and you may come out with some great friends.

OH, I trade pins too.

I am a jet lagged, net surfing, cannot fall asleep pin newbie. Maybe I can take a shot at this and type myself to sleep. Maybe others will doze off reading it:-)

My name is Chuck and I am orginally from Virginia Beach, VA but now live in tarheel country. I manage software development for a firm in the area. I like photography (hmmm, pointandshoot screen name), college basketball (state law), and now Disney pins. I have known my wife, Kim, for 23 years and have been married at least half of them. We have a beautiful gift in our life, princess Nicole.

As part of the evil pin conspiracy, CMs and guests gifted Nicole pins on a trip last year. So we bought her a lanyard. Then I bought a lanyard to trade her for her first pins. And it just won't stop; the pins keep coming and coming.

We like princess pins, wanna trade, attractions, and now Jessica Rabbit. Really, it is Nicole's idea. I could not return from DL last week without the nurse pin so off to Greetings I went. I could not think of a better hobby to share with a young child than pin trading. We have a blast!

I look forward to one day meeting some the folks on the DIS board in my travels. Warmest Regards.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hi, my name is Susan. My screen name (Ivanova) is taken from "Babylon 5" (sci fi tv series for you folk who don't know). I've been a member of DIS since January of 2002. I joined so I could comb the boards for tidbits of information about WDW, as we were planning a 2 week vacation to WDW in April of that year.

It was during that fateful vacation that we fell into the weird world of pin collecting ... everyone in our group got hooked ... and that was also the week that they premiered these things called "lanyard only" pins ... the kids became pros at seeking out CM lanyards, returning home with 8 or 9 of the 1st set of "lanyard only" pins (finally completed the whole set of 93 pins in March of this year while on a business trip to WDW).

Within days of returning from WDW in April 2002 we ran as fast as we could to DLR to become annual passholders (and just recently renewed for another year) ... we found out they had pins too. :smooth: Sadly I got roped into the 100 Mickeys fiasco at DLR (buying 5 pins a week for 20 weeks in a row) ... THAT is one mistake I'll never repeat.

As a family we collect: Villains, Stitch, Pooh, Marie (Aristocats), Terk, Timon, Meeko, and patriotic pins.

Our newest obssession is planning for the November pin cruise ... so we'll not only pollute the Collectors Board here, but we'll now corrupt the Cruise Line Board as well. :)

I am Engr-Chas, Lord of the Underworld. I am one of the "Bad Boys" of the boards. "Edited" should be my middle name. I rule an underground kingdom of Villains and minions. I collect souls. Many famous stars and well doers have sold their souls to me for fame and fortune. I keep them in a coffin shapped book and trade them whenever possible.

Pin Trading...I got into pin trading back in 1999 because it was a great way to meet minions. I live down the road from DLR (6 hours) and get to the parks whenever humanly possible. I have soo many pins that I have lost count (4001...4004, damn it, I have to start over again!). I collect Me (Hades) and all of my Villain brothers and sisters. I also collect Nightmare pins, although Jack and most of other characters are NOT Villains (just ask Mr. Boogie). I also collect dated LE's (LE1967) but I have no idea why? And DLR attraction pins (the original is the best!).

I run a pin trading group in NorCal (Sacramento Pin Traders) and organize the NorCal Mega Meet along with Kelly from the Bay Area Pin Traders (Note to Kelly, put the check in the mail for that plug). I am also involved in DL Dizkidz and Online Dizkidz because I have a little blue eyed devil (neice) who would beat me if I didn't. These days, I get more evil enjoyment from trading or giving someone (usually kidz) a pin that they thought that they might never get. It makes me feel all warm and flamey inside! I have meet many great souls through trading and that, my friends, is the most valuable item that pin trading has created!

About me (like when isn't it!)...I am the Corporate Engineer (Engr-Chas) for Amcor/Sunclipse North America (boring!). But it pays great and allows me to travel to DLR to do some "consulting" ;) as the corporate headquarters is 15 min from the parks! Life after death is good!

Hi,

My Name is Figgy and my hubby is Yenne. Hubby's real name is Britt and my real name is ____ ok so everyone really does call me Figgy. Which is actually what I prefer in fact half the time when I hear my real name I assume they are talking to someone else and don't answer (according to hubby anyway.)

Britt actually found the DIS first in the early days of PinTrading after he and I started PinPics. It was his baby from start to finish and I didn't really get involved in the site that much in the first 6 months of trading because we have too many little ones running around..HEHE

Now PinPics is pretty much a full time job for me and Britt has moved onto other things that PinTrading. He still enjoys the pins when he is at the parks and has become a lurker on the boards rather than a poster.

I mostly collect Figment, Maleficent (and all the other Disney Dragons), I have recently started collecting Treasure Planet as well. Others that seem to sneak in... Series pins with a definitely ending, Flower and Garden, Teddy Bear and Doll, Food and Wine, and other pins of that type.

I love to read and hang out with My Disney friends. The fact that to hang with them I have to travel to either DL or WDW is just an added bonus. I belong to lots of different groups and give myself way to much to do.. I am also secretly (ok not so secretly) known as slave driver to the PinPics Moderators.

Join some of my Disney Pals and PinPics on the July 2004 7 Day Disney cruise.. we are gonna have fun. HEHE

Hi!
I'll make this real quick since I'm sure you are tired of reading by the time you got to my post. My name is Becky and I'm a part time CM at WDW. (my screen name describes my jobs there) I currently live and go to school in Tampa. (YAY! I get my AS degree in a month. Too bad I'm staying for a BA) I'm going to school for web design/interactive media/web developement/ whatever they feel like changing the name of my program to next.

I have been collecting pins since I moved down to FL from OH on the College Program in 2000. I mostly collect Chip n Dale pins. There are only about 20 chipmunk pins listed on pinpics that I need. I also collect pins of other characters that I am "friends" with, Tokyo Disney Seas (the best Disney park ever built), some halloween, and anything else I like at that moment.

Who's next?

Hi there....
after reading this thread i think it is a really cool idea to let the "old" traders tell some stories....

My name is Stephan , i am 35 years old and together with my wife Michaela ( 33 ) we appear as "MEGAELCH" here and on pinpics . We have a cute little son named Felix ( 7 month old ) who already has his first set of name pins on his stroller after his WDW trip in march.
We live in munich / germany, hometown of the great Oktoberfest, which we really enjoy every year ( actually it starts mid-september )
We started collecting oct. 1st 1999 at WDW when we accidentially run into the grand opening of pintrading. We traded for around 20 pins from lanyards and if i remember correctly had the chance to trade for hundreds of mouse gear opening pins, but naturally did let them pass :-)
So far we have around 2300 pins in our collection and enjoy trading for christmas pins and do our best to keep our set of artist choice pins from the events and cruise up to date.
We have made some very nice friends in Japan, Florida and California which really helps when your next US Park is around 4000 miles away ! We do go to paris regularly and try to get pintrading on the road there, too, but to be honest activities there are very limited, but the pins they design look great and have small edition sizes, making them good traders for the US pins we adore....
So if you are looking for that special european pin, please let me know and i will do my best to find it for you !
If you like to visit us during Oktoberfest, you are happily invited, but bring your books !!!! ( 15 pounds of pins are minimum weight requirements during that time of the year ! )

Happy trading

Stephan

PS: Ivanova.. so you are a NEWBIE ????? :) ROFL

Newbie? Me? Naw. :) I've been doing this for a whole whopping year now. ;)

:D

Hi, my name is Dana (aka Lady Dana) and I have a awesome husband named Michael (aka Sir Michael - Lord of the Heimlich),
2 beautiful children named Justin and Brittany. We have been
collecting as a hobby I think my whole life (the closets look
that way!!) but we have been pin trading I would say since
approx. 2000, not to serious, we do love our TINKERBELL,
MALIFICENT, IMAGINEERING & DCL pins.

We are from South Florida with major wanna bees to move
to Central Florida (oh I would say for the past 5 years!!).
One day, I know something will happen, when it is meant
to be, we will find it........

We started the theme cruises on Disney Cruise Line with
the Dizbeanie Cruises and graduated to the BeanieMania
Magazine Collectible Cruise and now have a AWESOME
group of friends that we pin trade with on the Disney Cruise
Line Pin Event Cruises!!!

We also run the South Florida Disney Pin Meets. If you
are ever in our area during one of our get togethers please
feel free to join us!!!! My email is beanie-babies@att.net.
We have a great group of friends that get together and
trade and visit. We get pin trading withdrawls when we
are not at WDW and had to think of something and this
has worked out great.

We have 2 board names dizneyusa and glitterwings. There
was a time when the boards went down and we had to
sign in again. So you might see us with one of the 2 names
above. We are really far from computer savy and have
alot of friends to help us out there when I seem to be out
there on a computer problem.

But, most of all, we love our friendships we have been
able to make with the pin trading events, we have met
so many fantastic people along the way. We look forward
to many more Disney Pin Events! And posting on the boards!!

Dana, Michael, Justin and Brittany

Hmm.. An old timer… I would qualify as one I guess. My real name is Nat (okay Nathaniel) and my wife and I have been using the DIS since it started. We have made about 3 trips a year to WDW since we first got married back in 1983. I joined the DIS as a member in 99 when I was in need of some pin info. I am an avid collector of all things Disney I have a large collection of pins (not as large as it use to be) and am still narrowing it down. I am focused on Disneyana Convention pins and a few that have special meaning. I did do Christmas Pins but Disney ruined that by making 300 different ones the last few years. I still trade on occasion but I find it easer to just go to ebay, as the pins I now need are very hard to come by…

I collect Snow Globes and Figurines as well as some old toys and a few unique items. I am also in the process of getting the Big Figs. I do most of my own framing and enjoy taking items and adding a scene or something to enhance the object. I also have a small but growing collection of Bell Jars from Disney as well. I really enjoy how they do a 360-degree presentation with these.

My other and right now main hobby is gardening. I co-moderate the Flower and Garden Board here on the DIS and spend almost all my time off these days in the yard.

I have made some fantastic friends here on the DIS over the past few years and really enjoy meeting all my fellow DISers…

After 11 years of pin collecting I have gone back to my old ways. A few years back I had to have every pin ,now I am back to buying only what I like (about 12 pins since last summer). This board brings back some great memories and friends. Hi too all !!
Got some new furniture in the old pin room!
You know I had to get red!!!

I'm Mickey527, Peggie. I love Mickey, and my birthday is May 27. Notice I left out the year.....
I started pin trading in Feb of 2000. I was at the parks in January of 2000, at a pin cart looking at the POM DL castle. I swore I was never going to get into that crazy hobby, I like my snowglobes and Mickey stuff too much to spend money on pins.
Two months later I was back with a few Donald pins that I bought at TDS for $.99 each. Figured I could "dump" them on CM lanyards and get some good stuff. Ok don't hate me, I didn't dump them, I made some good trades and wound up spending more money that trip on pins than I had spent on my snowglobes in total.
I found the DIS boards one day while doing some research on Attention Deficit and Disabilities. (you've all met Ed, right) I love you Ed! I have ben here ever since and have made some really great friends and had some of the best experiences thanks to this hobby.
I live in Bridgeport, CT with two of my 3 boys, "their" 2 dogs, 4 cats, rabbit, mouse, hamster, lizard.........and whatever else winds up crawling into this house. Sometimes their friends. My oldest son moved out about a year ago but he stops over to see his dogs at least 3 times a week. His landlord is a meanie that hates dogs.
I work at Fairfield University as a staff nurse in the Health Center. It is a great job for a disneyholic, I have most of the summer off, and 1 month at Christmas, plus Spring Break. Plenty of time to go to WDW.
My collections consist of mostly Disney stuff, Christmas Ornaments, Plates, Tons of Mickey stuff, 68 Snowglobes as of now, and at least two more in a few days. I also collect Santas, and was fetured in the Bridgeport paper a few years ago because of my over 1000 Santas.
I am hoping to move to Florida as soon as my son graduates from Fairfield University (free college, can't lose that benefit) My dream job would of course be working in the First Aid Station in the Oddesy building at Epcot so I could see Illuminations every night.
I have a neice who is 4 and a nephew who is 2 who I adore. I am taking them to WDW in a few days and I can't wait. My mom wanted a grandaughter since my oldest nephew was born 32 years ago. Sara was finally born and my mom passed away 6 months later. So I am doing everything for Sara that I know my mom would have done. She already has 4 Princess costumes that aunt Peggie sewed for her, and many more in the future. Danny is the most adorable little boy I have ever seen, even cuter than my 3 boys were and my boys were perfect. I would do anthing for these two little ones.
also, I love to talk...............................

Okay, I'll go next. I started pin trading on my annual December trip in 1999. I don't remember what my first trade was, but it was with a waitress at Bonfamilla's restaurant at Port Orleans.

While planning a trip in Feb. 2000, I found the DIS. I lurked for a few months here and on the Community Board, then finally joined in May.

I was in the "I collect everything mode" for awhile, till I started to go bankrupt. I now TRY to collect ONLY holiday pins (especially Christmas & patriotic), cats, 3 of the princesses (Aurora, Belle and Jasmine), and anything magical (dragons, wizards, etc.) Okay, okay, so I'm at the "I collect almost everything mode". LOL

I've made some very special friends here on the DIS, and it's true what they say, the friends become more important than the pins. I count myself very lucky for the true friendships I've made.:teeth:
