Old tickets - fast passes

Hi, I am sure that I read somewhere that if you bring an old ticket with you, you can still activate a fast pass from it. Does anyone know if this is true or an urban myth?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FASTPASS
It is based on what happened when the FAstpass was first in place at WDW. I do not think that you could do that at DLR.

A bug in the first implementation of Fastpass allowed guests to get a pass by using tickets other than Disney's own admission media. Old tickets and even passes for other parks would result in the machines printing up another Fastpass. This has since been corrected; a ticket will come out stating "This card has not been scanned for admission".

Note: If it were true then Disboards rules would not allow me to post that info. It is not true by the way but would be abusing a glitch to gain from the glitch which is against Disney policy.

I would think so, no. The tickets have to be activated and working in order to use them for fastpass. Once they are expired that's it for them.

I remember reading on MiceAge that people used to use even grocery store loyalty cards to get tickets from Fastpass at Disneyland, so it might be true.

Of course, if it worked now, thousands of people would know from the Internet, so I'll bet Fastpasses would run out by 10 AM for most rides if the trick still worked!

I think about three years ago they fixed it so you couldn't use tickets that hadn't been used that day. But up until that point, you could have.

It DID work, it worked as early as Feb of this year. We had our old APs in DBFs lanyard pouch (I didn't want them to get lost so he was carrying his new one and everyone else's old one, I had his old one in my lanyard) and he accidentally stuck one in one of the FP machines, we did get a valid pass out of it. BUT they have since fixed this problem. In March we found a ticket on the ground near Indy and stuck in the FP machine, it gave us the error message saying the ticket was not scanned for admission and to see a CM (we wanted to see if the ticket needed to be turned into City Hall right away or not) so DBF pulled out one of our old APs (yes I finally took them out when we got home in March LOL) and they gave us the same message so it does not work. The bug has been fixed. :)

Ok, I'll admit it, I've tried it, and NOPE, doesn't work.

I did it about a month ago and it worked. Then tried it on March 22nd and it was a no go. The card came out saying that the pass I was attempting to use was not activated for entrance that day, or something like that.

I tried it the first weekend in March, and it didn't work.

Don't the tickets have to be activated by getting into the park to work? If that were true, you could go in and take the families tickets and get fastpasses for everyone while they were still at the hotel. This won't work. It will probably spit out a ticket that says "not a valid fastpass" So no I would say it will not work.

I've used expired tickets at Disneyland & CA on more than once occasion and it's always worked. The last time was March 18th & 19th 2009 and my old passes did dispense valid Fast Passes. I think most of the passes I used were from 2008, I had one that was from 2006 that did not work. I'm planning a trip this week (hopefully but our plans are slowly going down hill!). If I don't end up going this week, for sure I'll go back soon and I plan to test my passes again. I will update but I've done it several times out of curiosity and its always worked for me, at both parks.

We were there on Pres. weekend and it did work, when we went back the first weekend of March it did not. These were trips taken this year.

There must be some sort of glich in the system that sometimes allows it and other times doesn't allow it. I hold all the passes for my family. My DH didn't come into the park one day. This was in January 2008. I accidently stuck his pass in the Soaring FP machine and I got the message that the ticket wasn't activated so no FP would be given...
Of course, we also had an incident in 2006 when his ticket was activated and we kept getting that message saying it wasn't activated so no FP. Took the ticket to City Hall and they printed out a new ticket just to be used for FP. Strange...We later had to go to guest services and they printed out a whole new ticket for him because his ticket didn't scan when we tried to enter DCA the next day. (But it scanned at DL.) :confused3 Weird huh?

OK....Here is what I know about this.

We had Halloween Treat Tickets that worked (and sometimes still do) for FP.

In November, we used them both days, got FP.

In January, my mom used them three days, got FP.

In February, my mom used them, did NOT work, no FP.

In April, during Spring Break, we found the first MORNING, they worked, got FP until around 11am, after that, no such luck.

There must be some "switch" that someone has to flip or whatever, perhaps even daily to get it NOT to work.

^^^I wonder if this is breaking DL rules and one can be escorted off property for this? :scared: Wouldn't want that to happen...:scared:
