OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

We will be at the Beach Club in our first ever CL room from Aug 23 thru August 28th!!! I am having trouble concentrating on anything else and am driving my DH nuts!!

Can someone tell me about the noodle swap? We love noodles but I can't figure out how to bring them with us on the plane!

I'm not involved in the swap, but we plan to buy some at SAB. When we leave a week later, I'm hoping to find a family checking in and give them away.

I just checked and it looks like the noodles are booked for the entire month of August.

A couple of options-

As Aliceacc indicates, some families will purchase them and give them away at the end of their stay.

Purchase price at Poolside Gifts or the Beach Club Marketplace was $5 last time I saw.

People have been known to ship the noodles to the BC/YC prior to their stay. See instructions on Page 1 for shipping to the resort to avoid handling fees.

My plan is now laminated. There can be no more changes :rolleyes1

15 sleeps until Florida and 23 sleeps until Yacht Club 28 sleeps until our Gazebo Wedding :bride:

In the meantime, I am also trying to resist the urge to do online check in tomorrow. I have done it in the past but since I added a full balcony request this trip, I am taking all of the wonderful advice on this thread and waiting to check in when we arrive.
!

Uh oh, how did I miss this??

I checked in online on Sunday, for a Garden View room. I requested a full balcony on the Epcot end. Any time I've made a similar request at the Poly, it's been met.

Anyone think I'll have an issue?

mmtwinmama, if it were me I would go to a park if your room is not ready. That way you will be having Disney fun rather than checking your phone every five minutes to see if you've gotten a text. At least I would be checking constantly.

Pinkgirl, very exciting!

I don't know if it will be an issue but the recommendations from those far wiser than myself on all things BC said online check-in was more for those who are happy with just getting the room they booked and not worried about requests. Better put they said it's easier to get your room changed, if your requests were not met initially, if you check in when you arrive rather that doing it online. Since last year was my first BC stay and I had no expectations, I made no requests and did online check-in. Now does this mean your requests won't be met? I would have to let the wise ones answer that one!;)

Good Morning BC/YC Friends,

I posted this on the transportation board, but was thinking we have a few New England guests here who might know the answer and seeing it helps me get back to BC, I thought it was ok to post here.

Just wondering, what are usually the cheapest days of the week to fly to MCO from either BOS or MHT. Also what are the cheapest days to fly back to BOS/MHT. I am thinking of flying either Jet Blue or Southwest, but open to other airlines, if they are non-stop. This would be for next June or July.

Thank you.

To all at BC/YC, Enjoy!

Southwest ... cheapest days are normally Tuesday and Wednesday when they have super sales.

That's what I was going to say. Tuesday and Wednesday are usually the cheapest for most airlines, but most definitely for Southwest.

Dee: Thanks for posting Vic's obituary. A friend that I ride the train with used to work at Stone & Webster too, so I just emailed him to see if he knew Vic. Wouldn't that be a small world? (My apologies to anyone who now has the song stuck in their heads like I do.)

I fly on SW out of MHT and I've found that, at least lately, the days don't really matter as much. I always fly out first thing in the am, maybe that's why?

Oh my!! I love that idea!! My DD and I love to look for ways to spread Pixie Dust and this sounds like a great way to do that!!!

As far as noodles go. They really don't take much room in your suitcase IF you fold them up like a pretzel. I do that all the time and pack them in the suitcases when we got somewhere with a pool.

BC is one of my favorite resorts and I love BC CL! You will have a wonderful time!

Last year I bought some "skinny noodles" at the Dollar Store. I put one in each suitcase, around the perimeter. Yes they were a bit curled when we took them out, but they were fine once they hit the water. I was also part of the voluptuous noodle swap and left my skinny ones with them.

IF you want to plan out......Dec. is out for SW. SUPER cheap now a days...$86 vs normal $140. ;)

We fly JetBlue out of Logan as we are all of 5 minutes away in Winthrop. Cheapest flights are always on a Wednesday. The Wednesday flight out for us is now down to $95. Flying back on the following Wednesday the total flight for 4 would be $847. Crazy cheap.

We fly out of EWR (Newark, NJ) but I've always been told that Wednesdays followed by Tuesdays are generally the least expensive days to fly. I've also been told to book on a Tuesday, that is supposed to be the day the flights are cheapest on the web-sites (this I'm not too sure is always true).

Born in Central Falls, RI to the late Arnold and Helen Langley, he is survived by his best friend and wife of 46 years, Marjorie; two children, Kevin and his wife Vickie, and Melissa and her husband Bill; two grandsons, Tyler and Ryan Langley; and his sister Roberta Godin. A hard working man his entire life, he spent many years in materials testing at Stone & Webster Corporation in Boston, MA, and then with several other companies before moving to Florida 8 years ago and beginning a role at the Yacht and Beach Club at the Walt Disney World Resort.

He was a loving father and husband who always provided and gave to his family asking for nothing in return. After being very sick in 2004, his role with Disney and his extended family at the Yacht and Beach Club resort gave him a new strength and supported him in his healing process. He enjoyed traveling the world on the Disney Cruise ships and weekend trips to Vero Beach. A huge Patriots fan he loved talking football with his late brother Stephen and enjoyed reading his Patriots Weekly cover to cover.

He touched many people in his life, and the world was a better place for having known him. Some of his favorite times were yearly family trips to Walt Disney World with his children so in lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Give Kids the World.

I remember Vic well. I chatted with him many times while there. I met him on our first BC trip as he was the one we brought our carry on luggage to since our room wasn't ready yet. I saw his badge said he was from MA and we started talking. Each trip down I always had a chance to talk to him about Boston and the Patriots. He was a very nice man. I will miss talking with him.

Have any of you had kids who did the pirate adventure there at YC/BC? Thinking of booking it for my DS5. Didn't know how it compared to the GF one, etc.

Here are a couple of reviews that have been posted on the DIS. MMrules, Disneymomx7 and Drmomof3 all post here occasionally. I am not familiar with the person who wrote the first review.

Beach Club Albatross- Pirates Cruise- Review: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39868546&postcount=1

Mmrules: Last summer I sent my sons ages 4 and 6 on this cruise and it was one of the highlights of the trip!!! The woman "pirates" were awesome! They played the parts well and made boarding the boat very easy for my boys (the 4 year old doesn't socialize easily). They heard the legend of the treasure, docked at Canada in Epcot (while it was empty) and found treasure there. THen they chased the bad pirate on their boats. THey also got some "loot" when the cruise was over. It was great and I am going to sign them up again next summer when we go!!! He would love it!!!

Disneymomx7: My kids and my grandkids have done the Albatross Cruise and LOVED it. My kids like it even better that the Pirate Cruise from the GF and my dgs said it was his favorite part of his Disney trip!!!!

Drmomof3: My children did it in August, 2010. Jessica was 4 and Nathaniel was 6. There were plenty of "solo" children on the cruise and they both made friends. It was definitely a highlight of the trip for them and it gave me some quality time with my neglected 3rd child (he wasn't old enough).
