OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

OK, so I'm getting back on the healthy eating (WW) and exercise bandwagon very soon, and I mentioned to DH that a good motivation for me would be doing the TOT 10 miler in 2013. He was very encouraging! I really need to do something to get me up off the couch again... I was doing 5ks about 3 years ago but I've slowly put on about 40 pounds since then and feel very bad about it... My cholesterol is up, and I feel badly about my size, but I need some motivation. I'm worried about the what though... I think it's in September, which is enough time for me to be able to do it, but I'm concerned that the heat will kill me!!! LOL. Thee is a famous 10 mile race here in July so I may aim for that, and have the TOT 10 mile as the reward. September will also be hard with taking the kids out of school. Can't imagine they'll let me go without them! LOL

Have you checked out the Run Disney site?

http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/sports/rundisney/

They have descriptions of all the Disney events so you can shoot for the one that fits your activity profile.

Good luck and may the fork be with you, with healthy food choices and tasty low calorie fare!

Thanks for all the safe travel wishes!

Mike T and YCFAN - we will be waving as we drive through the Carolina's!
Nettie - on the way home we are actually do our sleep over stop in Lumberton!
Just want to get a few hours of sleep. On the way down we drive straight through.

This is our third time driving. The other eleven we flew. To tell you the truth the way the airlines nickel and dime you for everything now I'd rather drive.

As most of the BC/YC thread knows we had such an awful experience switching flights after dd broke her leg that it really soured me on flying.

I feel like we are more in control now. DH and I drive straight through (pack food and drinks) and only stop for gas, coffee and bathroom breaks. We always stop on the way back. Most times we did 3 or 4 nights in Hilton Head but this year we are taking a short get away to Hilton Head in September for d's birthday. So we are staying one night in Lumberton.

CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON THE ROAD!!!!!

Oh wow! I've had family here today from Baltimore and didn't get a chance to log on before now. I'd love to have dinner with you or see you on your way back. PM me if you'd like to get together or either just for advice on Lumberton restaurants/hotels.

Be safe and have a great time on your vacation. I have had many wonderful trips to Universal too so I hope that part of your vacation is as magical as the WDW leg. Enjoy yourself! Hope your family has a great time!!:wave2:

Hi! Was wondering if the refillable mugs at the beach club are resort specific? Or are they the same as you can find all around disney? Thanks

The mugs are the same ones the other resorts have:

Here's more info about refill mugs(from the FAQ on Page 1), even though you didn't ask:

Where can I purchase and refill a refillable mug?

Refillable Mugs may be purchased and filled at the Beach Club Marketplace (self-serve station), Beaches and Cream (CM assisted service, get into the ice cream takeout line), Hurricane Hanna's (self-serve station) and the Ale and Compass Lounge in the Yacht Club resort (coffee/tea self-service, juices and soda behind the bar).

Pixarmom provided pictures of the beverage dispensers at the Marketplace.

Now that Robyn has already hit the road, I thought of something I would like her to check!

But this could be done by anyone going soon.

On the FAQ page, I have the hours of SAB listed as 10 am to 10 pm. I believe someone recently mentioned the pool was open until 11. Could someone check with the lifeguards about the summer pool hours- whether they are set or if they change based on weather, crowd conditions, etc.

Many thanks!

Dee

I can walk but not run. I so admire anyone that can. Check out www.skinnytaste.com It has great recipes with pics and the WW points listed. Good luck!

Easy question for anyone: Where do you get your refillable mugs now when they are included with your dining plan? Do you get them at check in? Or do you get them at the marketplace too?

TIA :wave2:

I remember just getting them at the marketplace. When you give the card at checkout they see you're on DDP.

According to another site:

"Epcot's Le Cellier Steakhouse to become a 'signature' dining location for lunch in 2013"

Not at Y&BC but I know a bunch of us love LeCellier and the lunch since the 'Signature' change last year.

I saw that and was not completely thrilled but then I remembered that we are planning on getting TIW for next year so maybe it won't be a big deal. I am still considering it for our weekend trip in February!

I am running the Princess Half in February as my reward for getting back into shape! I have been using the Jeff Galloway training plans (he works with RunDisney and does one for each race) but his site has a conditioning program to get anyone started! I started in April and just got back from a 6 mile run! What better motivation than a Disney trip!

DH and I are actually heading down for the race just us and we are so excited! Now I am just stressing on where to stay? BC since we both love it or BLT so he can see me run past? Decisions are hard

I just had to agree with this poster. Skinnytaste.com has great WW recipes.

On to my BC question....has anyone done the "T-shirt decorating" activity recently, or have you seen it being done? What exactly is it? I read somewhere stenciling but I also thought I read somewhere it's tie-dye?

Thanks for any info :)

I'm trying to upload pics from my phone to the new Dis app, so here goes......

Here's Grace this morning with my recently-arrived BC/YC pin. Thanks Nanette!

I've had a ton of plan changes but finally finalized everything yesterday. We were supposed to stay at BC from 9/16 - 9/21, but now that's changed. We're going down on 9/15 and staying at ASSp, then moving to YC on the 16th through the 19th, and then I'm moving back to ASSp after Ma leaves on the 19th and staying through the 21st. I debated for literally weeks about just coming home on that Saturday instead (the 22nd) but I know I'll want time to relax before being thrown back into the absolutely busiest week of the entire year for me.

Fingers crossed for no hurricanes!!!! :goodvibes :wizard:

Hilton Head is on the way home (it's going to be a long way back to PIT from there), but Raleigh would be a little out of your way. When we lived in Charleston, SC, if we drove non-stop (minimal bathroom/food stop---we could do it pre-kids), the quickest we ever made it to Weirton was 10.5 hours. For our trips to Pawleys Island, SC, we've always stopped at my mom's house to break up the trip, but it's about 11 or 12 hours total. DH is very happy that my mom isn't coming with us this year and that we're going to be flying.

Last year, we bought Shell gift cards from Kroger (to get fuel points here for gas) for the drive down and back, and I think we ended up spending about $400 total on gas, but it took 2 days going down and 2 days coming back because of our stop in the middle, and we're usually exhausted by the time we get to Disney and extremely exhausted by the time we get back home. I have friends who drove straight thru last May coming home, and I think it took them about 17 hours.....DH says no way on driving straight through!

As long as we can get a good deal on airfare, I think we'll probably fly from now on....with the 576 airport connector, I can be at the airport in about 20 minutes, door to door. We'll see how our September trip goes....we have a 6:05 am flight to MCO and a 7:15 pm return flight to PIT....and it's the first time flying for both of the kids. :)

Thanks Cindy! I got to warn you on that 6:05 flight...We did that one in 2010 (did the 11:40 in 2009 and I felt we got in too late) and it was longer sercurity lines than I expected..it was a weeekday though. So prepare for that...it was long! THe last two years we did the 8'ish or so AM one and it was a lot better and not having to get up so crazy early.....But still early! DH makes us leave 3 hours ahead for the flight and we are 30 minutes from the airport!!!

Well I keep checking myb 2013 YC dates and obviously conventions are in b/c there is nothing but YC CL and waterview available. I am a huge YC CL lover but after my stay last month at BC CL - I wasn't as impressed with the offerings as in prior years. SO we decided on YC garden view instead. Now there are none!!

Well I could easily get BC GV and as I did state earlier, I have no problem staying BC again, just wouldn't do CL again. But I was only getting a 12% discount with AAA. I am convinced I get SO few pins b/c I am always booked!!!!!

SOOO I did not book anything. Now let me say BC or YC is a must for us in June.

SO would you book NOW to have it and assume a bigger discount in form of pin or GP is coming? Or hold out since my room request is generic enough (i.e not club level with limited rooms, etc).

Thanks for any info :)

Cindydare did this recently and earlier this week posted the picture and description below. I have since added this to the Activities post on Page 1.

Here's a picture and description of the Tye-Dye Mickey Shirt activity:

TyeDyeShirtcindydare.jpg

The Mickey T-shirt activity is making a tie-dye Mickey t-shirt (with the Hidden Mickey outline in the center). The recreation CMs have already rubber banded the t-shirt for that particular design. You get to pick your colors and apply them to the shirt. DD8 did it last September and it was $17.95. I helped her with it, it was a lot of fun, and her shirt turned out to be very cute. I saw mostly kids doing it, some with parents, but I think that anyone could do it. They wrap your shirt in plastic wrap then put it in a ziploc bag for you. When you get home, you just have to rinse it out and wash it. The longer the color stays on the shirt, the more intense it is. We charged it to the room on our KTTW card and it showed up as babysitting charges.

Thanks cindydare!

Sandcastle club (the kids club at yachet/beach club) question
Both dds are potty trained and we were thinking of sending them there one night while dh and I enjoyed an evening in epcot. They will be three by the time we go. However I read that the cm won't help them at all in te bathroom. Is this true? They are young enough that they may need some help with their pants but I could just put them in dresses and if they do number two they would need help wiping. (sorry about the tmi)
Maybe an in room sitter is the way to go but dd 2 is our foster daughter and there are tons of rules about who can and cannot babysit an you are suppose to get the person approved before hand whereas in a group setting like the kids club there are no such restrictions as long as its licensed.

Funny that is EXACTLY what we did this past June.....

How was it? Great, I hope. Any recommendations? We are a family of 10 so our options are limited. We really wanted BC but can't afford it the whole time so decided to split the stay with POR and do the last 4 weekdays at BC. My five little ones have never been to Disney before so we are very excited!

BTW saw on the next post you fly out of Pittsburgh. So do we! Small world!

Just saw a picture of a BC room on Tripadvisor.com where the beds have been stripped of both the seashell roll pillows and the beautiful blue bed runners at the foot of the bed. Is this new? I think the beds look sort of plain without the decoration. I love the pillow and I want the runner for my own bed at home!
