OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Good afternoon friends!

I am in a fantastic mood! While gathering my non-exp WPF tickets, I found $45 in Disney Dollars in my drawer! Woo hoo!

I was also trying to plan which park to go on what day and I decided that we needed PH's. The tickets we ordered were from the YES program (which I highly recommend) and I knew the tickets were non-refundable and thought they were non-changable (is that even a word?). Anyway, I called the YES office and they were able to change my 6 day non-PH tickets to 7 day PH's for less than $100 for all 4 tickets! Woo hoo! I'm so excited! Now we can move to another park if it's crazy hot/busy at our original park. My 13 year old daughter will be excited we can now go on EE at AK because AK for us is a 1/2 day park and I didn't want to use one of our admissions there.

Also, completely unrelated to Disney, I love Barry Manilow. He is coming to Chicago this weekend and I have tickets for two nights of concerts. Barry is going to be a guest on one of the morning talk shows here in Chicago on Friday and I was chosen to be in the audience!!!! There's only 56 seats in the studio. Woo hoo!!!! I was lucky enough to be in the audience of the Oprah show when he was a guest there (this was 8 years ago) and now I'll see him again! Coincidentally, the show he will be on took the time slot of Oprah here. And it's owned by ABC which is owned by Disney, so I guess it is Disney related! :)

9 more days until we leave for WDW!!!!!

Oohh..... I just realized the kids and I can do what I call the Johnson Family Disney Amazing Race.....going to all 4 parks in one day. I wanted to do this last year but encountered resistance from the kids. Well, this year we are doing it! :)

So I just found this out and had to share with someone and since it does kind of effect our trip why now share here...

DBF has a full time job!! :cheer2:

He had been applying to every job he was qualified for since moving to PA last September and a company he's been independently contracting at offered him a full time position!

This means we may be able to splurge a little while we're on vacation now! I also think he might get in the mood to hear me talk about what I want to do while down there a little more now since he won't be too worried about his finances now.

Now I just need the next 4 months go a little faster so I can be in Disney

Congratulatons!!!!!:cool1:
I have been unemployed for 2 yrs. so I know that getting a job is extremely exciting!

Can't wait to hear how you do!
We've talked about doing this but never had the nerve to really try it.

This isn't officially related to YC, but you have been so helpful with all of my other questions. So, planning for our August trip is in full force. We wrote out two options for our drive from PA (philly area) to Disney. I think we have decided that we are going to drive straight through (with two 20 month old twin boys)---eek! Our plan is to leave our house around 7pm and drive overnight, stopping the next morning for bfast & lunch. In doing so, I have convinced my DH that if we do this, we need an extra night in WDW. However, he will not let me add the night to our YC reservation (I think the cheapest room open is over $300 a night). So, should we stay at the Swan/Dolphin or just spend the night at a Value resort ($79)? Will it be a giant pain to switch resorts, or no different than staying at a hotel on the way to WDW?

We purchased 6 day park hopper tix through Undercover tourist. Anyone want to help me plan which parks to go to when? When do I not go to a park---the first day Aug 17th or leave an open day in the middle of the trip???

Do you recommend Cape May Cafe for bfast--which characters are there? I have no idea how the boys will handle the characters. I really need to get them to Sesame Place and see how they do with the characters there.

I'm thinking about placing an order w/ Garden Grocer for my August BC trip. Have any of you used them? I've never done it, and I have a few questions...

Also, the prices on the GG website are pretty high- are they better than the prices at the Marketplace, or do you think they're similar?

Thanks for any tips you can give!

We have used the service We Go Shop several times in the past. They will shop at any store you want. This is important to us because we have them go to Whole Foods where they can buy things not available at regular stores or at DW. Their prices are reasonable starting at "Grocery receipt(s) total up to $50.00 = $18.00 shop & delivery service fee"

Wow, we leave in 10 days. :cool1: Man did this trip sneak up on me. Looking forward to staying at the BC and hopefully seeing Teena again at some point during our stay.

I have about eight days 'till check-in at the Beach Club! :cool1: I think this may be the part of my trip I'm the most excited about!!! I cannot wait to hit SAB!

And, Teena, we would love to meet you! Unfortunately, I don't recall his name, but the other greeter who had taken your place while you were away last July, was truly wonderful with my son every time we walked into that lobby and he was there. He made it a truly special experience and always make it feel like we we were coming "home." That was just one of the special pixiedust: things I think the Beach Club does so well and was a big part of why we fell in love with it!

So, I'm hoping we cross paths. It isn't everyday I meet another Teena, if we spell it differently! :goodvibes

Richard is the greeter Tuesday through Saturday. So it was probably Richard who your son talked to. If you're around Sunday or Monday, I'll be there. I'm not taking time off again until August 5th and 6th (when Jeanne and Lily are visiting). I'm also working Friday 7/20.

Happy Birthday to Mike and Lilly!

Hope everyone arriving soon has a fabulous time, especially at SAB

Poor Princess Lily gets two birthdays to celebrate. This weekend in Vegas for friends and family that live there and then on 7/31 when she arrives in Florida. What a life!!! And thank you to all of you that have left gifts for her - they are here waiting for her Florida birthday party. She is certainly spoiled. I wish all of you were going to be at the BC on August 7th when Princess Lily checks into the BC and discovers SAB! It would be wonderful if you all got to meet her (and Jeanne too of course).

Happy Birthday Mike! I wish you were at the BC to celebrate!

I've never gone by car to Disney, so I can't fully answer your question. I would probably pick either a value resort, or perhaps a hotel a few hours (around 6?) from Disney to stop and rest, then head out in the morning to Disney. We've done Disney with little ones several times, so feel free to send me a message and I can give you some ideas based on our experiences.

Cape May Cafe breakfast is a nice character meal and one of the more relaxed ones. The characters usually have good interaction there. Both times we went, it was Minnie, Donald and Goofy.

I have great news to share! My waitlist for December came through for a whole week in December! :cool1: I can't beieve it came through at all, let alone this early. But, I am really happy. We are headed down with friends for the first time, and their DD has never been to Disney. Hope they like it as much as we do.

Teena - hope my family will get to meet you this year. We check in on a Sunday, so hopefully we'll see you.

Dee, can you add us to the guest list? We will be at BCV December 9-16. Thanks.:)
