OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Hi all. Just wanted to tell everyone who is currently at the Yacht/Beach clubs, I'm jealous but keep those live trip reports coming! And to those who are about to go, have fun! It's an incredible resort!

In the meantime, I wanted to inform everyone that I have updated my trip report and I'm now up to about half way through day 1.

Loving your report!!:goodvibes

Awww... thanks so much everyone for your sweet words re: the loss of my mother:grouphug: It's been a very difficult 3 weeks, but coming on here and reading about everyone's trips cheers me up:goodvibes

Woooohoooo! I haven't seen anyone in the lobby greeting since we came last Wednesday. I am definitely looking forward to seeing you there!:banana::banana:

Saw your pic of the No Way Jose on FB a few minutes ago! Now I'm craving one in the worst way...... :goodvibes I'm looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip and seeing more pictures!

kelleigh1... I'm a fellow MA dis'er and I also agree with the NH idea.... We're *hoping* to head up to N. Conway in August for a couple of days after a trip to Canobie Lake. We love to drive the Kancamagus Hwy and stop off at the waterfalls.... the Lower Falls area is a beatiful spot close to the N. Conway side of the Kanc. We usually pick up sandwiches at a deli/Subway and then go have a picnic there and wade in the water. My girls are dying to try a zipline, so if we make it up there, we might give that a try too. I hope you have a wonderful time wherever you go!

17 more days till our first visit to the beach club villa's !!!!!!!!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

We usually stay at the moderates so this will be a big step up for us as we just became DVC members ...

Any last min. suggestions ???
Do you think there will be enough hangers in the closet (we are always requesting more of those at other resorts.)
Is it a good idea to bring your own pool towels?

Congrats on your upcoming trip! Once you've stayed at the BC, it's so hard to stay anywhere else!!

While I've never stayed in the villas, I find in the resort itself, there's usually around 8-10 hangers in the closet.

I wouldn't bother wasting the space in your luggage for pool towels. They have an ample supply of white pool towels at no charge by the pool and as you check in with your ID upon entering the pool, the lifeguard gives you one for each member of your party. :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time! :)

A day trip to Ogunquit, Maine would be awesome. We visit there frequently. Only an hour from us on the North Shore. Great beach, great places to eat, nice little shops.

Great place for a day trip.

Jay

Spent the weekend in Ogunquit for our anniversary last year. Had a great time and will go back, but not for my bday. Maybe for our anniversary next year.

Who's ready for another cute picture of Teena's grandaughter, Princess Lily???

I meant when is the last bus FROM the resorts to MCO?
thanks Jill

Oops, Same answer tho' they schedule your pick up by your flight time (approximately 3 hrs before.) I vividly remember one 3 am dme pick up when we were trying to beat a hurricane's closure at our connecting airport.

Too cute! Such a sweet little girl, even in the midst of making a mess. :)

Thank you. I showed hubby the website of the water park place in NH that Dee mentioned which hasxa zip line and he was excited...so that might be it! Thanks to all for the suggestions. I got more input here than I did on my facebook post. I am keeping all the other suggestions for future day trips. :wizard:

Take down yer fishin pole and meet me at the fishin hole, I can't think of a better way to spend the time of day...........................

Off topic, but to those of us in NC we feel like we have lost a member of our family today. Rest in peace, Andy Griffith.

Not from NC, but Andy was always like "coming home" - don't we all wish we lived in Mayberry?

Obviously this poor child was persuaded to attend one of those Tupperware parties that her girlfriends in nursery school put on and now she is searching for space in the cabinets. There is no way this child would ever just pull Mom's cabinets apart. ;)

Baby Lily! Watch out for those "Pampered Chef" invites.... those dips they sell will really put a dent in your wallet and a bulge in your toddler tummy.

I'm a native North Carolinian living "up north" and it is a very sad day. Many afternoons of my childhood were spent watching The Andy Griffith Show....it was always on one channel or another. He embodied the best of my homeland...I will always be proud to be a Tarheel.

Please add us to the guest list! We'll be there CL Aug 17-24. We've been staying in villas, but this time we won't have the extended family with us, so I decided to splurge and and CL. That part is a surprise for DH and the boys. We also usually rent a car (I'm a control freak), but we'll be on ME for the first time this trip. DS 7 always begs to ride the buses from the airport, so this should make him happy. :)

I do have one question. From what I can tell, the laundry machines for the BC are still only coin operated. Is that the case, or have they been converted to take the room key yet?

Thanks for this wonderful thread that's full of great information and wonderful people. It's really helping me get excited about our trip in the Aug heat!

Hi, I've posted a few times on here since booking the Beach Club for August '13, but have been a bit preoccupied this year with my mum's illness, her passing and sorting out her estate. Things are finally getting back to normal and I can get into planning mode.

We have booked the Beach Club for a week next August with free DDP and I have a few questions.

Is there anywhere onsite that does counter service breakfast?

If I request a full balcony, am I pretty likely to get one? (I'm starting to wonder if I should have booked the Yacht Club).

We have booked garden view, are these rooms ok or would I be better off upgrading? (bearing in mind that we probably won't spend a huge amount of time in the room).

Is the laundrette 24hr? (I usually wake up really early on the first few mornings due to jet lag, so I could get the washing out of the way whilst everyone else sleeps).

Thank you

The Marketplace offers a few items for breakfast. Check out this info:

The Beach Club is home to 2 counter service locations-Beach Club Marketplace and Hurricane Hanna's

Probably about a 50% chance of a full balcony. Probably higher if you put in a request for one. If the balcony is really really important to you, you can see if you are able to switch to YC. If not, follow the advice in the Page 1 FAQ- do not do the online checkin and inquire about whether your assigned room has a balcony when you check in.

View choices are hard to make for someone else. Personally, I always book SV.

AFAIK, laundry rooms are open 24 hours, but I have never used them. I'll ask someone to post to correct me if I am wrong about this.

As of today I believe they are still coin operated.

:welcome:

Will do!

:cool1:

Great surprise!

As far as I know, the laundry machines are still coin only, but if anyone has experienced anything different, please let us know.

Best advice in the August heat... EARLY!!! Get to the parks as soon as you can, enjoy the busy attractions before the huge crowds show up, have a relaxing afternoon and then hit the parks again.

Dee - how did you get so lucky as to never use the laundry room?

I can attest to the fact that the laundry room is open 24/7 as I'm one of those nuts who will get up at 3 am to do laundry so that we can still make rope drop!
